Hi all,
My wife got a letter (dated March 26) from NHS Cervical screening which sates she is HPV positive and has high-grade (severe) dyskaryosis. The letter also states that she'll be sent a date for her colposcopy appointment in the next days - hasn't come yet.
My wife will be 35 years old in six months, and she hasn’t given birth in her life. Also this was her first smear test – thank god she finally took time to do it a couple of weeks ago..
At first we didn't think it was serious at all, as apparently most women at some point in their life has HPV but the "high-grade" part in fact worries me.I've read in this forum that only 6 out of 100 women have high-grade dyskaryosis.
I've also researched some of the forum posts and seen many people asking similar questions on what to expect but there are not many posts written AFTER the colposcopy.
How serious is this situation? Is there anything we should (or not) be doing until the colposcopy? If anyone can provide any info, that’d be hugely appreciated.
It says the colposcopy will happen in the hospital clinic. Is it the only place that it can be done? I'm thinking different specialised clinics maybe? Considering the corona virus situation nowadays, I’m also concerned 1- appointment could be delayed 2- hospitals are not the best places to be around these days.
Many thanks,
