Coronavirus and chemo

Attended hospital for bloods prior to treatment tomorow (chemo 6) I feel concerned after speaking to the nurse when I said your very quite today and he said a lot of chemo treatments have been cancelled but yours hasn't. I just wondered if anybody else has heard about this ?

  • Hi Manc

I am in the West Midlands and had my weekly chemotherapy yesterday. It was abit quieter than normal but the nurse said that was down to people self isolating and they had no orders to stop people's chemo. I had a phone call on Thursday night from a chemo nurse just asking if I was ok and if I had any symptoms of coronavirus that's the closest it's come to being cancelled I think.

    Stay safe

  • Hi Manc, my husband is due for chemo on Monday, we got a phone call to say our local chemo unit is closed now and I have to take him to a unit half an hour further away. This is scary for me because he vomits a lot after chemo. It is a really scary time for cancer sufferers and people with immune problems. Hope your chemo goes ahead for you. Best wishes and  virtual hug. Chris.

  • Hiya. Some people's chemo will be postponed due to the virus.

my radiotherapy has been cancelled. Was due to start at the end of the month. I've just finished my chemo.

they are having to prioritise and decide if the risk of having treatment outweighs the risk of catching the virus from not isolating.

im gutted about it but once all this settles down it'll get back on track xx

  • I've had my chemo due to start now cancelled because at my age(76) and a heart issue I was told in this coronavirus  climate it was too dangerous. It could be months and months and meanwhile my stage 2 ovarian cancer will presumably spread! Terrible times but I do so hope younger women will get their treatment
