Hi there lovely, I went for my smear in 2018 came back HPV positive and abnormal cells.
I went for the colposcopy which is a little painful, they take a small biopsy of your cervix and test it for cancer cells under a microscope. Now please don’t panic I know so many women who have just been and had the cells removed with no further problems. They had similar symptoms to you.
Unfortunately I had my colposcopy and it came back that I had stage 1B1 cervical cancer but I had absolutely no symptoms. All of our bodies are different. Please try not to worry. Also I have been all clear just over a year now.
Let me know now how you get on, it’s an awful thing to be waiting and worrying,
lots of love
Chelsea xx
Hi Chelsea,
I've just come across your post... sorry to hear you had 1B1 cancer, but fantastic news you've been in the clear for a year now! If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for you to receive your results and how did they inform you? And what treatment did you receive?
Thanks x
Hi there, this is the timeline:
28th October 2018- Smear
2 weeks later- smear result with severe abnormalities and HPV
1 week later- colposcopy and biopsy
4 weeks after this I received the news I had invasive squamous cell carcinoma cervical cancer, they rang me and asked me to go in. Sat me down and told me.
2 days later - MRI
It gets a bit of a blur from here but I went to see the consultant, went on standby list for operation for Cold knife cone and lymphandectomy.
12th December- Operation
31st December - All clear with clear margins and no evidence of disease.
4 month check ups ever since and gynae cancer specialist nurses phone number to call if I need anything. I’ve had a couple of unscheduled appointments and an ultrasound since as I’ve had mild pain from my scars etc.
