3.2cm liver lesion found with ultrasound

Hi. I'm 45 years old and I've just been told yesterday that a lesion has been found on my liver. I've now got a hospital appointmnet with the gastric department in two days time. I have quite a bit of discomfort in my abdomen but no other symptoms. I'm so very worried about the diagnosis and prognosis. It sounds like a cliche, but you really never believe that these things can actually happen to you.

I'd really like to hear from anyone out there who is experiencing anything similar.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to hear what you're going through.

The same thing has just happened to me. I'm also 45 years old. Went for an ultrasound today and apparently  there's a 2cm legion on my liver. There is also a 3cm one on my adrenal glands.  I was told a report had been sent to my dr and I must speak to them urgently. He called at 6.30 to say he was arranging a CT scan for Monday. I have no liver symptoms and blood tests for full blood count, liver function etc are fine. I do have symptoms of an adrenal tumour however. I'm so worried it's malignant and spread to my liver.
The waiting is the worst part.

  • Hi,

I'm so sorry to hear that. It's all so worrying.

The doctor told me that they hadn't found anything else on the scan and that my liver function results were normal. I have, however, got a lot of discomfort in my abdomen and i have little appetite and do generally feel unwell. We were initially looking at the possibility of a stomach ulcer but the h pylori test came back negative. I have read that you can have a negative result but still have an ulcer though. I'm hoping so much that the symptoms i am experiencing are from an ulcer and that my lesion is simply benign.

It's just so terrifying. I can think of little else day and night. You are right that the waiting is very difficult. We will both hopefully know more on Monday. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us. Please feel free to message back anytime. Your response made me feel less alone in this.

    Take care.

  • I hope you get some sleep as well. Good luck in the morning. I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll be thinking of you.

  • Morning!

Actually managed to fall asleep. How are you?
I really hope everything goes well for you today. Fingers crossed . Please let me know how you get on.

  • Hi. That's good you fell asleep!

I've just got back from my appointment. It was basically a chat with a consultant about my symptoms and the lesion. They're going to concentrate firstly on the liver lesion before my gastric problems as they think that is the priority.  Had some more blood tests and he confirmed that i will have the scan within the next two weeks.

Hope you're ok and that everything was ok. Let me know how you get on.

  • At least you've seen a consultant and things are moving. Did they say what they thought it might be? Or what the blood tests were looking for? That might make it clearer for you. At least they're moving forward with a scan. But I'm sorry it could be up to two weeks. Try and keep busy.

Ive just had a CT scan which they said will be reported urgently. They wouldn't tell me anything or reassure me which is worrying. I also don't know how / when I'll get the results. I'm fearing the worst as no one will discuss it.

I hope your appointment reassured you a bit. Thinking of you.

  • Good that your scan has now been done. I don't understand why they couldn't let you know when and how you will get the results. Information is so important at times like this!

Maybe have a search on this forum for ct scan results to see if you can find any info?

    Try hard to stay positive.

  • No, they didn't say what they thought it might be. Just that they didn't think my gastric problems and my liver were linked. They want to focus on my liver first as a priority.

Unusually for me, I didn't look at what the consultant wrote on the blood test sheet so I have no clue. Can't believe I did that!

  • Hope you're ok. Thinking of you

  • Thank you. How are you doing?

im not having such a great day. Just seen my ultrasound report and it looks like I have a tumour on adrenal gland that's spread throughout my liver. I think the CT confirms this. Not looking good.

  • Oh I'm so sorry to hear that. Really sorry.

How did you see the report? Has someone explained it all to you?

I can't imagine how you're feeling but please try to not think too far down the path. This could still be treatable. It doesn't mean that nothing can be done. At least some treatment could start now? Again, so sorry. It's all easy for me to say. Just trying to balance out your news a little.

Thinking of you and sending lots of good thoughts x
