My Dad

On 20th December I took my Dad to hospital as thought he’d had a mini stroke (face droop and slurring). After doing CT scan they took me to one side to say they’d found a massive tumour in his brain that they believed to be secondary. He spent a few days in hospital on steroids and has now come home. It’s come as a complete shock. He’s 80 but fit and healthy. They still can’t find the primary but as yet have had no further appointments and not sure what we are actually dealing with?I don’t know what I’m really asking on here but I guess I am really struggling. Only child and my mum died when I was little so it’s only ever been me and my dad and I’m just hating all the uncertainty and waiting. I just feel so helpless and out of control with it all

  • Hi Yellow24,

Welcome to Cancer Chat, although I'm sorry to read what's brought you here and what you're going through at the moment. I can understand this must be incredibly difficult and I'm sure the uncertainty makes it worse.

If you're unsure of next steps in terms of appointments or what's going on, it might help to give the hospital a call as it's of course important that you're informed about this.

In terms of support moving forward, do use this forum as much as you like to speak to others in similar situations - it's a very welcoming and understanding community of people.

I hope you're able to find out more soon about this.

Take care and wishing you all the best,

    Ben
