How long after a prostate biopsy would you receive a cancer diagnosis if, indeed, that's what it is. My husband had his biopsy a week ago, he has a PSA level if 120 which we know is very high.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Hi shellyA I'm afraid It can take from minutes to weeks on average it's probably about three weeks. As i said it can vary alot mine was right after the biopsy but it isn't very often. My psa was 1581 gleason 8 stage 4 i was diagnosed Feb 2016 it will depend on the gleason score or stage to give an idea of treatment.. Good luck with his treatment....... Billy
P.s depending on options [@telemando] or [@woodworm] should be able to help,
Hi Shelly
Mine took about two wekks which used to be the norm. Waiting for diagnosis seems to take forever for we nearly alway think the worst. My psa was 70 and the cancer was caught before it escaped so I have luckily made a good recovery.
I wish you and you husband all the best and please let us know how he gets on, Brian
Thanks Billy. Wishing you lots of luck and love
Thanks very much, Brian. Glad to hear yours was caught early. I will let you know how my husband is when we get his results.
Mine took about 10 days, but that was back in 2010 with a fairly small hospital.
Note that with modern computer systems, your GP may be able to look up the results directly. I've received biopsy and scan results from my GP before I've heard from the hospital.
Thanks for replying. My husband rang the hospital just this afternoon and was told he will have his results this Friday so 10 days is about the norm, it seems.
Hi shelley, I'm not trying to scare you just to let you know if hubby' has cancer and it's spread outside the prostate there's still treatment options, mines gone to lymph nodes, spine, ribs, pelvis and a lung, that was nearly four years ago I'm living a normal life, i had to retire at 67 to look after my disabled wife she needs 24 /7care or I'd still be working now. Hope your husband is still contained, if it is C. But just so you know it can still be treated. (not cured) but livable. Best wishes..... Billy
Hi Billy
It sounds like you and you good lady wife, between you, have had it pretty awful to say the least and yet here you are helping others with your kind words. Thank you so much! My husband gets his results tomorrow afternoon so I will certainly let you know how he gets on. Oddly enough, for the last three days or so, he has had no symptoms at all - is that normal???? Shelley
Shelly i didn't have any symptoms at all, i went to doctor because i kept being sick turns out it was a hernia. One of the blood tests showed something wrong which was when i was given a psa test, luckily if it wasn't for the hernia it probably would have been to late, hope your husband has a good result....... Billy
Hi Billy
Am pleased to be able to tell you my husband is thankfully clear of cancer - if only everyone could be as lucky!! He has something called benign hyperplasia and will need medication for a while but that's it. Once again, thanks for your help and I wish you love and luck for the future.
