Mum waiting on diagnosis

At the end of july after having a cough and being breathless for months ,my mum had an xray, scan and endoscopy to which she was told they thought her cancer was back and if it was confirmed it would be terminal,we're now at end of October and she just got biopsies took on 24th of this month, still waiting on results but the wait has been horrendous and the toll its took on my mum is shocking shes lost so much weight ,shes so frail and weak its frightening, feel so helpless,I'm worried sick about her we all work,my stepdad needs to go back to work next week and I'm so frightened of her being in herself, feel like I can't really speak to anyone without upsetting everyone.

  • I'm so sorry to read about your mum and cannot begin to imagine how frightened and alone you must be feeling. It's really important that you are able to speak to somebody about how you feel and to get some support for yourself at this really difficult time. Could you maybe ask your GP to refer you for some counselling?  Being able to talk to someone not connected to what's going on can be helpful. It might be that one of the  cancer charities offer this type of support to families too. I really hope you get the support you need to help you to stay strong.

  • Thanks ,just been really struggling last few days, and if I continue to do so I will go see gp, I'm normally quite upbeat, dont know why but just cant seem to control my emotions last few days.
