Diagnosed breast cancer but feeling OK - am I odd?

Hello,

Initial diagnosis just RHS breast at stage 2 but grade 3 so having chemo pre surgery, 1st EC on 29th August, awaiting CT, bone scan & biopsy on LHS, results due 21st August.  Had really quick & excellent treatment compared to many plus am a stoic/daft Yorkshire lass who is ready for an adventure (although I can think of better ones!!)

Been looking at the forums more so for practical advice re what to expect re chemo, what I should be doing re diet, questions to ask the cancer team who are supporting me.

Told all family & close friends and set up a whatsapp group so they know what I am doing, so far enjoying this as it’s an opportunity for all to be entertained as well as not having to have the same bl00dy conversation over & over. Definitely decided against face book as they're not close & I know it would be filled with motivational quotes - not what I am after at all.

Hopefully there are some other people out there who are feeling relatively positive, in the meantime am off to Edinburgh fringe this weekend to watch some very odd shows - whoop, whoop!

  • Hi Sam, think this is the better of the 2 scans, not sure though because haven't really been told anything. At least only have to wait until Monday for appointment in lung clinic (letter says 2 hours because more tests, again don't really know what to expect).

Hope all goes well with rest of treatment and it doesn't get too bad x

  • Hi Sam

Its been a while but glad read from you today and that you are doing well, despite the constipation which am sure is common one, mine was much within a week and much better now ,and thanks for encouraging Patrice definitely she will be fine.

I went to see the oncologist today oh he was so happy I could feel his joy that am doing great, not much suffer and on top work too work 12 hour shift 3 times a week I praise God.

I only use the mouth meds 3 days only never again as I have no sores ,all taste bud are back to normal after 6 days of treatment and turmor itself is packing off with no shame, I say to it by my 3rd cycle I feel you no more burger!!! Ha ha ha

Wish everyone a success over this journey , peace and hope that in the wilderness we wont die will reach our destination.

    Enjoy the week.

  • Ha ha ha

You made my evening, the other boo doesnt want to be left out?? That's a good joke.

Never mind such a stage in life whereby we can't ignore or run away from it.

My 4 year old daughter says "dont worry mum I will a good pampam (boo) without hamster inside(cancer) and you will ne happy becoz I dont want you to have only one pampam. " fun and wise girl

Have a good evening going for 12 hour shift

    Get well soon

Good to see your still in high spirits and managing your 12 hr shifts ( I have no idea where you get your energy from).

Re your comment about cold cap it may help if you wear a headband to protect your forehead and do let the team know if its too tight, mine was snug but definitely not too tight.

You'll be glad to know am trying the mainly alkali diet (don't think I've ever eaten so many mushrooms in my life!) and am getting out & about when am confident can leave the bed/toilet!  Your prayers & suggestions are obviously helping thanks.

Great that your oncologist was pleased with your results - go gal!

  • Hi Sam

Am even surprised myself where I get energy, honestly am physically fit can even go for marathon ha ha ha.i feel so so normal, eating normal taste buds back to normal after 6days .no tiredness at all.am on my feet daily and I sleep well when home, no wonder God is in prayer.

About diet yea am not messing up, I know they said can eat anything but coz I have no trouble about appetite so I carry on with health diet. Breakfast i make millet porridge with fresh blueberries & strawberries,  then gluten free bread and bartoli butter, I like nuts as snack bought pecans and peanuts, more of fish(Merkel & salmon then atleast every week portion of beef liver, then beans(different & lentils  sweet potatoes, pumpkins, plantains are are my friends, spinach, mushroom (brown ones) Kyle, red cabbage all really been so helpful.

Sometimes if have muscle pains or veins frankincense oil is so so amazing you rub where pain is and round next 3 times a day or even message whole body is so amazing, does wonders.

Sometimes I feel like when the mind is positive & say I can do it, it links up with body and can truly do.Doctor asked me if I need sick note I said , when I need it will let you know, nurse just looked at me and that was before treatment, she said oh but you cant have chemo and work is so so nasty, it weakens body inside me I was like mmm will try and see ha ha ha stubborn am!!!

Sam I think with cold cup coz I have almost no hair very small like half  cm so nurse was trying to reach out the scalp which really made me mad.my eyebrows are intact hope wont loss any hair so next week friday due for 2nd cycle will go without it,nearly killed me coz of tightness.

Nyt nyt dream about hamster staring to pack off!!!

    Xxx Nel

That is a very impressive diet, are you sure you're not a professional athlete in disguise?

Am quite concerned that your daughter may want a cage for the "hamster".  And I love hamsters...had 3 when growing up, all named after cigarette brands (it was a tough upbringing up north), stopped smoking some time ago though you'll be glad to hear.

Impressed with your strength Nel, long may it last.
