Just been diagnosed, BC - triple negative

Hi there,

I joined the group a couple of weeks ago after my scan and biopsy and found it useful and supportive reading what everyone is going through and their advice whilst we all face the C word!

I've now received my diagnosis and plucked up the courage to say 'HI!' :)  I'm still reading up on all the booklets i've received. A strange feeling really counting the days down to your appointment like a holiday without the excited feeling and now coming home with loads of booklets and not holiday brochures.  i feel strange that i have a sense of relief but a strange relief as I do have cancer and not the all clear.  Does anyone else have these mixed feelings?

I've been diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 and triple negative.  Well from my understanding, i'm waiting for the confirmations to all come in the post.  I remember them saying 18 weeks chemo, 5cm tumour, lymph nodes, masectomy, radiotherapy....

I still feel very detached and like they are talking about someone else as i dont feel ill.  I was hoping to be pregnant :( so feel very sad tonight that is unlikely to happen now with my diagnosis and that i'm 42.

So mixed feelings all around tonight.

  • Hi,

Mich, I also read that Taxol contains alcohol but sadly I can't say I'm enjoying the effects!!! I don't sleep at all on Taxol, just one of the side effects I suppose.

Hi Claire, great to hear from you. Yep, the injection can make you feel tired but if you read the leaflet in the box, there are many possible side effects. it sounds like the hospital is really looking after you so that's one good thing at least.

I hope your little one is ok and that you are managing to get some rest.

    Stay strong Ladies xxx

  • Hi Ladies,

Mich I'm glad the paxol isn't being harsh, I found it OK, didn't know it contained alcahol, and here's me telling everyone I haven't had alcahol since May Any new on your Bracca test?

Claire hope your little one is better, what a nightmare for you bless. I to have had heart tests as I had a AF while on EC and they wanted to make sure all was OK for surgery. Heart is OK thankfully, I have two combos left so where about the same in treatment time, although mine keeps getting put back My white cell count last week was low, 1.5 so they were reluctant to go ahead and this week it was lower .0. 8 so no chemo again, that freaked me out, went to see oncologist and she said the carbo is long lasting and it was this that was dropping my white cells, she is going to give me two of the pesky injections when I have my weekly treatments and has reduced the dose slightly, I really hope my bloods come back better tomorrow, I was so very frustrated Monday and Tuesday I also had tears, my finish date keeps getting pushed back,  I will hopefully have my combo on Monday

Sue, sorry to hear paxo is giving you havoc, are you on it weekly? And I'm sure we all have teary days, I've had a fair few. How is the hair growth? Is it still growing very slowly?

Love and hugs to all xxx

  • Thanks ladies. I didn't realise Paxil contained alcohol either :)

I never read up on side effects as I'm too suggestible but have now read the leaflet in the box. Blimey!

Davia I'm so sorry your date keeps being pushed back. I would cry if I went in and they told me that. So close to the end too! Got everything crossed for your next set of bloods.

    xx

  • Hi Davia,

My chemo is fortnightly so I'm hoping my last one is on 27th if it doesn't get put back due to my liver function. My hair is growing back very slowly, it looks terrible but that really is the least of my worries!!! Good luck with your bloods, fingers crossed all goes to plan.

I look forward to us all starting a new thread, it will be the triple negative survivors club and we will get loads of new members I'm sure.

    love Sue xxx

  • Really hope your well enough for your last chemo Sue.

    Thanks

  • Claire, that's what I'm holding on to. The survivors stories. There are plenty out there xxx

  • Hi Ladies.

I hope this finds you all well and nearly ready for crimbo.

I'm glad to say I have survived 5 days since having my 1st Fec. I had 1 wave of nausea come over me 11 hours after I had it and i thought oh here we go then but it came to nothing, I took myself off to bed with an Ondansetron and slept well.

I had a horrid muzzy headache for 3 days but I stopped taking the Cyclizine and that seems to have cleared my head, the only side effect I seem to have is fatigue and aching bones but i figure thats from my lovely daily jabs that I am having. I am managing to eat and drink well, its like I am waiting for side effects to hit me out of the blue.

Are all Fec the same or could I have them worse next time? Sorry for all the Q's.

    Linda x

  • Hey ladies,

Deffo set up a Warriors group when we all out the other side

I met a lady at a local group that had TN 15 years ago when she was 34. She had a few issues since then with calcification (which I'm not 100‰ sure is) but had double mastectomy few years ago and is doing well!

Welcome out or zombie land Linda! Glad to hear you are managing OK yeah I had the achey body heavy head and fatigue. I noticed the side affects of anti sickness is also fatigue and headaches lol!

I'm not sure about other side effects of Fec as I was on EC. But saying that they do sound familiar and as you've prob read you can have a different effect the next time. A whole muced bag eh.

I was wide awake again the morning! Grr thought the steroids would ware off maybe tomorrow. I did go to a sound meditation class last night with a friend which was good. First time and all you had to do was lie and relax and listen to the sounds and rest. Apparently sounds waves pass through our body easily as we have full of fluid! Didn't fall asleep and not zonked out yet so will probably hit me later!

Has anyone else tried anything different? Always fancied yoga.

Happy Friday ladies! Off to get another hour sleep, hopefully the zoladex injection this morning!

    Xx
