Just been diagnosed, BC - triple negative

Hi there,

I joined the group a couple of weeks ago after my scan and biopsy and found it useful and supportive reading what everyone is going through and their advice whilst we all face the C word!

I've now received my diagnosis and plucked up the courage to say 'HI!' :)  I'm still reading up on all the booklets i've received. A strange feeling really counting the days down to your appointment like a holiday without the excited feeling and now coming home with loads of booklets and not holiday brochures.  i feel strange that i have a sense of relief but a strange relief as I do have cancer and not the all clear.  Does anyone else have these mixed feelings?

I've been diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 and triple negative.  Well from my understanding, i'm waiting for the confirmations to all come in the post.  I remember them saying 18 weeks chemo, 5cm tumour, lymph nodes, masectomy, radiotherapy....

I still feel very detached and like they are talking about someone else as i dont feel ill.  I was hoping to be pregnant :( so feel very sad tonight that is unlikely to happen now with my diagnosis and that i'm 42.

So mixed feelings all around tonight.

Mich x

  • Hi Sue, your lucky they stay the same, I never know what the next days app time is going to be.

I have just ordered a fruit and veg box from local company cost £20 so not to bad, the other farm shop delivery I had they charged £2.50 for a small sweetheart cabbage so this box for £20 should be better value. We've never spent so much on food

    Keep well xxxxx

  • Hi Davia

No I have a husband here with me but he was self isolating so he didnt pass anything onto me, you should get 1 if you say hes isolating with you.

I got my post op results yesterday, I had clear margins and nodes !! Cant believe it, I had 5% cacer cells in the tissue they took but my consultant said pathology were happy with that as i had a good clear margin. I have a telephone app on 29th to discuss my radiotherapy and when i'm going to have it, doesnt seem real i am near the end woohoo.

Hope you ladies are all ok xx

  • That's great news Linda, really happy for you, radiotherapy is not to bad at all, hope you get a date soon

I will do the box thing, I put that I wasn't alone and had husband with me, but like you he can't go out as he may potentially bring the virus in. Thanks for tip x

    Keep well xxx

  • Hi Ladies,

Brilliant news Linda, that will be a huge relief.

Davia, the box is deffinately worth having. I got long life milk, two loo rolls, potatoes, fresh carrots, tinned tomatoes and beans, pasta and rice as well of loads of other goodies.

How are you feeling Mich? The worst part is over at least.

I hope you're doing well Clarie.

    Love to all xxx

  • Hey ladies,

How we all doing? It's sunny here again but oh so windy!

That's great news Linda! I got some good news on Friday too, my tissue was clear of cancer! Was quite a surprise as I knew I had a few tumours and large ones and they were still there on the scan in Jan. The last 2vmonrhs of chemo did its job. He took out 27 lymph nodes! I know WTF! No wonder I am struggling with movement haha! It will sink in more once I get it in black n white.

Like you Linda I just need to wait for details of radiotherapy. I'll get a call in a few weeks, so now just to carry on with my exercises.

Thanks for your advice Davia, it has helped. I'm taking it easier with them and doing more repeats, I find it works better than just pushing myself to do 5 of each one. It takes about 5 just to get my arm going. I'm still pottering in the garden and faffing with paint.

    How's everyone else doing?

    Big hugs

    Xxx

  • Hi Davia, forgot to mention the bag sounds like a great idea. I didn't get one, although the opp wasn't at my usual hospital. I'll check if we do have them here. Be great for me to make some too. I don't have a sewing machine though so maybe once lock down is over I can use my friend's around the corner.

  • Ladies I'm sorry for the radio silence, I tried to log on the other night but could for some reason.

I'll come back later and do personals, literally just arrived at the hospital for my second rt appointment.

Hope you're all ok, seems like people are having a hard time recently, love to all.

  • No probs Claire. I had the same last night, it happens every now and then when I can't get on the site. Odd.

    Hope all is OK

    Xx

  • Hi Mich

That's brilliant news, 27 that's a lot, but so pleased for you that all is clear. Good your managing little excersize to, keep at it radz need your arm above your head, you'll get there

Shame we can't go out in this lovely weather, it is windy but in sun it's nice, pottered in garden today after radz, 10th today so 5 left

    Keep well ladies

  • Hey Davia,

Thank you yeah getting there I have more movement now. Still a pain down my arm when I stretch it out. Not sure if it is cording. I'll keep an eye on it and call the nurse of needs be. It's weird not having follow up appointments, as I had the news over the phone and they said I must call if any problems but just stay at home and exercise. Guess it's the safest place for us.

How's it going with the radiotherapy? Are u managing OK? Im having my neck done too, is yours also on your neck?

Hope you got to enjoy your garden this week. I was out there yesterday painting a bench. So might do a bit of reading instead.

Hope you are all OK ladies, big hugs
