Just been diagnosed, BC - triple negative

Hi there,

I joined the group a couple of weeks ago after my scan and biopsy and found it useful and supportive reading what everyone is going through and their advice whilst we all face the C word!

I've now received my diagnosis and plucked up the courage to say 'HI!' :)  I'm still reading up on all the booklets i've received. A strange feeling really counting the days down to your appointment like a holiday without the excited feeling and now coming home with loads of booklets and not holiday brochures.  i feel strange that i have a sense of relief but a strange relief as I do have cancer and not the all clear.  Does anyone else have these mixed feelings?

I've been diagnosed with stage 2, grade 3 and triple negative.  Well from my understanding, i'm waiting for the confirmations to all come in the post.  I remember them saying 18 weeks chemo, 5cm tumour, lymph nodes, masectomy, radiotherapy....

I still feel very detached and like they are talking about someone else as i dont feel ill.  I was hoping to be pregnant :( so feel very sad tonight that is unlikely to happen now with my diagnosis and that i'm 42.

So mixed feelings all around tonight.

  • Happy birthday Roz and Mich,

The Look Good Feel Better workshop was good and I came away with a large bag of freebies. We all had to take off our make up and was shown how to apply it including eyebrows and eye liner. We were told false eyelashes were not adviced whilst going through chemo because of the weight of the false lashes and the glue could react to the chemo chemicals. By the time they showed you how to apply the eyeshadow, liner and mascara the lashes didn't notice. We also got a bottle of perfume, moisturizer, lipsticks, blushers, eyeshadows and loads more. They were all good makes so well worth going to.

    Stay well ladies,

    Love to you all,

    Sue xx

  • Glad your feeling better Clair.

It was the white cell boosting injections, I had a dip in my white cells on my first paxo carbo so couldn't have my second dose of paxo, but the cells picked up quite quickly so maybe that's why no need for injections like you say.

Sue, the look good feel good day sounds great, will have to book myself a space on there, and very good advice on the false lashes, you pick up so many bits of info along the way don't you, I was also told not to wear under arm deodorant with aluminium in it, have any of you heard or been told this?

Well second day after paxo and feeling OK so fingers crossed

    Have a good day ladies

    Xxx

  • Sue that sounds great. I'm so lazy with make up.

Davia so interesting you were told that about deodorant. I've heard it a lot but usually from alternative therapists, never from someone in the medical field. I switched deodorants about 4 weeks ago and the one I use is very good.

  • Clair what one do you use? I find mine OK but it could do better. Xx

  • I use earth conscious which I order from babipur. It's not cheap but I suspect none of them are.

  • Thanks Claire I'll have a look and give it a go xx

  • Hey Sue,

Ah that workshop sounds great, just what you needed.  I have the details so will call so book on the next one tomorrow ;)

Glad you are doing better Claire, hopefully more than toast today.  I'm going through a smoothie phase at the moment!

I need to get different deodorant too, since starting treatment I've been too freaked out to wear roll on lol!  I see there are quite a few options on the market , I'll have a look at the babipur.

No aches and pains today yay!

    Hope you all well.

    xx

  • Hey Sue,

How you doing? Is it your taxol today?

I'm OK, just a bit of pain in my right arm. Had my pre assessment this morning so all ready for Tuesday.

Hope you are all keeping well ladies.

    Xx

  • Hi Mich

Yes I'm having Taxol now. It takes 3 hours and I was petrified but all ok so far.

How's your hair? I now wear a wig to go out. I've lost about 50% but my hair is very thin and bald on the crown. I'm still having the cold cap with the hope that I don't lose any more.

I hope everyone is well. Stay strong ladies

    Love to you all,

    Sue xx

  • Hey Sue,

Gosh that is a while and still the hour and half afterwards with cap?

Still sporting the bald patch but can hide with headband. Cold cap was rather painful last time, I'm goimg to ask them to put it one when it's starting up, the 30bmin time then at least it's gradual rather than ice cream brain freeze. Do you have it on earlier or only when ready?

Are u having weekly taxol? Not sure if I should continue as weekly will be a err headache lol!

Hope you don't have any strange side effects and can relax this weekend

    Xx
