Hi, I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer. I am 66 years old. I have had ct scan and another where they inject radiation in your arm. I cannot go through with an mri scan(can't spend three quarters of an hour in that machine). My question is am I entitled to any extra benefits. I get my state pension +a small amount of pension credits. Thankyou

I cant comment on benefits..but re MRI...your head isn't in the machine and you are listening to music through headphones. Its comfortable and time passes quickly. You are in contact with operators throughout. I'd definitely have one. Good luck.

With prostate cancer you are indeed put feet first into the MRI machine and your head is outside. There's no doubt that the machine is noisy and a lot slower than a CT, but it's worth it for the amount of extra detail that the doctors get, and an MRI doesn't use radiation, either, so you don't need to worry about that.

I don't know what hospital you went to but I am in portsmouth. I have been in that thing twice for unrelated things. Here you're fully inserted in the thing head first.
Dosnt matter now because I'm buying a book from someone off Internet who can show how to beat this cancer without any medical help.

But were you put in the machine for a prostate scan? I've never heard of anyone being put in head first for a scan below the waist line.

Clive3..no reason for head to be in for prostate scan.
Prostate cancer very treatable if caught early and not spread. I wouldn't refuse conventional treatment..by all means do other things as well
