If you have any medical questions or concerns make sure you write them all down so that you're able to discuss anything with your mum's doctor or medical team, to help you have as much information as possible and also to help support your mum.

Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry for the reason that has brought you here.

I hate to say this , but if the consultant has told you that your mum's cancer is not curable and, that it is a high grade cancer, there is not likely to be much betterment. Chemo is usually given at this stage to try and reduce the size of the tumours and, buy a little extra time.

I am glad to hear that she has already been admitted and is getting drained prior to starting chemo this week.

One good thing is that they are not wasting any time in dealing with this. I lost my mum to breast cancer which had spread to her brain, bones, liver and lungs. She was in a similar position to your mum, although they didn't give chemo back then and, it was heartrending to watch on and not be able to do anything to help her. Just be there for your mum and attend to her day to day needs, talk to her and don't leave anything left unsaid. If you want to know her prognosis, I'm sure that her doctor will be able to tell you.

I also lost my father-in-law this year. He was admitted to hospital for tests. We were told that afternoon that he had cancer which had spread throughout his body. Five days later he passed away. I am all too familiar with the devastation you face and, I hope that you have a supportive family to help you through this difficult time.

You have a hard road ahead of you and I hope that you find the strength to see it through. One thing that will make a huge difference to your mum is for family and friends to keep a positive attitude around her.
