I have recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer. The only symptom I had was a single instance of visible blood in my urine. I had no other symptoms.  However, I am 65. 

PS: This site is for everybody who is affected by cancer and you're welcome even if you haven't had a diagnosis yet. Indeed, we all hope that those people who come here without a diagnosis eventually get the all clear. 

Hi I too am being tested, I had 2 visible shows of blood in urine, many times experienced pain when peeing, all urine dip and blood tests so far negative, am waiting in depth renal clinic tests

Hi Hoxtonchris.  Welcome to the forum.

Don't assume that blood in the urine always means cancer.  When I went for my first hospital referral, the consultant told me that in 8 out of 10 cases of blood in urine, they carry out all the tests but never find any reason for it.  Those are pretty good odds in general, although I wasn't quite that lucky myself.

Hi T, thanks for words of encouragement I hope all turned out good for you eventually, I have had symptoms of chronic uti for 2 years now but all urine and blood tests have come back negative, this time however I have had 2 visible bleeds 7 days apart so now I am being sent to a renal clinic, I just hope the previous 2 years of inactivity are not going to cost me dearly thanks again Hoxtonchris

My bleed was caused by a small bladder cancer that was removed in June 2019 by a routine procedure called a TURBT.  My follow ups have been clear so far, including a bladder cystoscopy just last week.

Hi again, I have had my tests already as I was fast tracked, I have T2 bladder cancer, it hasn't traveled outside of the bladder but has reached the bladder muscle. The team have told me I will be offered either chemo with radium or radical bladder removal, if its a matter of life or death I will go for the latter, I had my turbt recently and it was a bit uncomfortable as the surgeon insisted I had no auto washer fitted to my catheter which caused the tubes to block, another doc overrode that and one was fitted result instant relief! Good luck all I will let you know how mine goes

My dad is currently undergoing surgeries to remove the tumor. He will need to make a decision of which procedure to go for after bladder removal (urinary diversion or bladder reconstruction using intestines). My dad would really like to speak to someone that has gone through one of the procedures to help him make a better informed decision. Any advise or help you can give would be really useful.

Hi JasminK.  Welcome to the forum.

We don't get many bladder cancer patients here.  I think they mostly hang out on a Facebook group.

It's a private group, but if they'll let me in then they'll let in anybody :)

I do know there are a number of people there who've been through this and I'm sure they'll be very helpful and supportive.
