Hi Diane, this is a horrible waiting game and I think most of us have been through the same.  What happens is that the consultant will want every piece of information in front of him then they have a meeting to decide what the outcome is, so then no one is second guessing what is wrong with him.  Then you will see the consultant who will discuss the results, tell you the full truth and decide what treatment plan is required.  So he needs the endoscopy, if his GP has voiced cancer to miss this appointment would mean the necessary information would be missing.  When cancer is mentioned most people go into full on denial mode, my husband included!  You need to be firm with him but not pushy as they then feel not in control of what's going on.  Post again if you need, there is always someone who will help you.  Best wishes, Carol

I do understand they need all the information available I think my husband was expecting to see the consultant after the CT scan and find out then if they had spotted anything unusual, he has had a blood test,a chest Xray and the CT scan in the last 3 weeks and doesn't know the results of any of them and as i'm sure you are aware it just leaves the patient in limbo,I am sure he will go for the endoscopy but think it is just not knowing if they have found something worrying or have not found anything and want to do more tests to see if that shows anything.

Hi Diane, this is the problem, you don't know anything because they haven't got the whole picture, it's frustrating, a waiting game and only at the final consultation will you be told, we went through all the same procedure and then were told it was lung cancer, it's your life but unfortunately they have many similar cases to deal with, although we were told cancer by our GP it was not confirmed until the last bronchospoy, so we waited until it was confirmed before telling everyone.  Good luck, keep us updated if you want to.  Carol
