Firstly remember Dr Google is not your friend. He’s a nasty fraud who leads you up the garden path, ,bullies you into thinking the worst and scares you witless! However I did consult him in the early days and ended up driving myself crazy.....we all do it.

I was diagnosed with womb cancer in April 2018. I had a hysterectomy, tubes and ovaries removed through keyhole surgery and I was home the next day and recovered within four week. Unfortunately histology upgraded the cancer from 1 to 3 and although it was contained in the womb it was far more aggressive. So twelve weeks after the first op I had another major procedureb where they removed 92 lymph nodes for testing. Fortunately they were clear so I had three sessions of internal radiotherapy which sounds far worse than it is. This week I had my first follow up appt and was told by the oncologist there was no sign of the big C. Next check up in four months. My surgeon and support nurses were brilliant. I’m not saying I wasn’t ever scared or tired or just plain climbing the walls but it was all doable. So even if the news isn’t as good as you would like there are treatment plans that work.

And incidentally I was 64, obese and not particularly fit and have been a type 1 diabetic on insulin injections for 57 years. What got me through? Determination, being positive whenever I could be  and the wonderful friends I’ve met on this website.
