Suspected uterine polyp

Hi all,

I am new here and not had a cancer diagnosis however, I am really worried as I have been referred urgently for a hysterocopy next week for a 2 cm growth in my uterus which was found after a scan. The consultant marked it as USC which I know means urgent suspected cancer as my husband is a consultant surgeon. He’s told me that’s just a fast way to find out but I am nervous he’s playing it down !!   I have been having a bit of irregular bleeding and pelvic pain for a few months . I am so worried as the word cancer fills me with fear after seeing my dad die from it two years ago .

  • Bless you, hope your ok, have you had your results yet?

  • Hello I'm just going through the same thing first they found a erosion which they treated with silver nitrate, then the same week I had a scan and now seen a 10mm polyp, and waiting on getting a camera to look at the polyp and thickening of the womb , worrying my self sick to the point  I'm not eating sleeping !!! Did you find out what yours was ? I'm 37 had 4 children so scared it's cancer !

  • Hello hope you don't mind me asking but I'm going through the same thing possible polyp can I ask you your out come x

  • Hiya, mine wasnt a polyp, but thickened lining, pre cancerous cells found

I would need regular check ups to monitor but due to my main symptom of extremely heavy periods I am booked in for a hysterectomy of womb and cervix

  • That's really good news , I'm going out of my mind with worry,

  • Hi All, im new to posting anything online. Im 40 years old has an appointment for heaving bleeding that lasted 22 days then was given meds to stop the blood loss. Internal scan showed lining thickness, a fibroid, cyst and a polyp. Im seeing a gynaecologist tomorrow but its not booked with the hospital im so nervous about this i cant stop thinking of the worst possible outcome. Its horrible worrying so much. My hospital told me it could be up to 6 weeks for the biopsy to be taken. Ive had pre cancerous cells CIN2 of the cervix in 2008. Any advice would be much appreciated as i know there are so many of us in the same position. Thanks xx

  • Hello Ladies,

I'm writing this exhausted after a horrible afternoon involving a scan and hysterescopy last week.

I'm 34 years old and have always had heavy/painful periods. My earlier cervical smears showed borderline changes and over the years these have fluctuated between normal and abnormal. I had some random bleeding in October 2018 and saw a consultant in March 2019 who found high risk HPV (not strain 16 or 18) and CN1 changes. I had a follow-up smear after six months and was HPV negative. Smears since then have been okay and I think I'm back at every three years.

In parallel, over the last 18 months my periods have become more frequent (between every two and three weeks) and very heavy, involving a lot of clotting. I've bled through clothes on several occasions and have to wear two extra thick pads. I went to a GP with this late last year and had a scan which came back okay. I saw an NHS consultant in February/March this year I was referred for a hysteroscopy. Due to the Covid-crisis, I was not able to get an appointment. This year, I've been bleeding between my periods (spotting) and having lower abdominal pain.

I phoned my GP as it's been six months since I was referred and noted my symptoms were worsening. I was finally sent this week for another scan and hysteroscopy which I had today. The scan revealed an ovarian cyst and the hysteroscopy, which was agonisingly painful even with paracetemol, revealed many uterine polyps. The nurse took a biopsy and I've had blood tests for the cyst. I had a funny turn afterwards, my blood pressure dropped and I was sweaty, faint and sick.

It's now Tuesday and the nurse called me to say that the blood tests for the cyst came back okay but because of its thickness they are going to do an MRI. I'm still waiting for the biospy results.

And, to top it all, I'm on my very heavy and painful period.

  • Hi Sundial,

After removal of multiple polyps a few weeks ago I am still awaiting results from biopsy. What symptoms did you have prior to diagnosis please if you don't mind me asking? As i seem to have constant bleeding each month & feel like im in a viscious cycle even after having the polyps removed.

Its causing so much stress & anxiety for me.

    Thanks

  • Hi there,

I just wanted to touch base with you because I am really worried. I have been waiting due to covid for longer than my gyno wanted and just wondered o your symptoms during your wait for the removal of the growths and biopsy. I am having terrible pain In my back, belly, and legs especially when on my periods. Very very heavy clots in the bath and constant throughout the first 3 days if not more. The pain in the left side of my pelvis is quite bad.

I hope you don't mind me asking about what symptoms you had, I feel it would help to know.

I am 35 years old and had cervical dyxlacia which is burning of cancer cells from my cervix 2 years ago before this issue so I'm more concerned than ever now I am going through this.

The scan showed the growth is about 3cm, they named it a polp.

    Thanks

    natasha

  • Hello. I'm in the exact same now. Its been 2 weeks now after the biopsy. What worries me is that there were only 1 polyp or fibrous lump 2 yes ago, but they did not say which it was. But now there are quite a lot more and I'm still sore with the endometriosis symptoms. My consultant didn't know I was having symptoms because my gp had not wrote down any notes when I rang or had examinations with the GP..so now I have more polyps with a large one and ovarian cyst. I know doctors are especially busy with covid as well as hospitals, but the gp should of passed on my symptoms. Anyway fingers crossed all will be well. My cancer smear results came today and are all fine.
