Suspected uterine polyp

Hi all,

I am new here and not had a cancer diagnosis however, I am really worried as I have been referred urgently for a hysterocopy next week for a 2 cm growth in my uterus which was found after a scan. The consultant marked it as USC which I know means urgent suspected cancer as my husband is a consultant surgeon. He’s told me that’s just a fast way to find out but I am nervous he’s playing it down !!   I have been having a bit of irregular bleeding and pelvic pain for a few months . I am so worried as the word cancer fills me with fear after seeing my dad die from it two years ago .

  • so glad you got good news, FeliciaB28.

I had scans in November and was told I have fibroids and a polyps. I had a  hysteroscopy and biopsy on the 2nd of January and was told it would take 4-6 weeks to get the test result back. I know how everyone feels with the worry of waiting for the result. To add to that I have started bleeding again after taking norethisterone for 28 days which helped with the bleeding and painful cramps. I have really been struggling today. Luckily my GP gave me a repeat prescription of norethisterone which I have started taking again. Hopefully it stops the bleeding and the pain. Scary time for me :((

  • Thank you Mmalo. I do hope your pain and bleeding settles down and goes away soon. Buscopan sometimes helps with crampy pains if you doctor allows you to take it.

  • Will give that a try, FeliciaB28. Thank you.  Tbh right now I’ll try anything to manage my pain. My appointment with the consultant gynae is not till end of feb by which time the biopsy result should be out, and I have already been told I’ll need to have a hysterectomy which I honestly am now looking forward to. That hopefully should be the final cure, if the biopsy result is positive.

I hope we all get thru this. The waiting is just the worst.

  • Hi Hope you are feeling better?
I have been diagnosed with fibroids and a polyp. Have my gynaecology appt on the 2nd March. Where they will take a biopsy. Am 50 and haven't had periods for nearly 2 years. Had a massive bleed 6wks ago. Hoping all good fingers crossed for everyone xxx

  • Hi I'm 56 and had a few incidents of spotting. I was taking lots of pain meds for something else and thought this was the cause. I eventually went to see Dr. Had a hysteroscopy on Monday 10th Feb was called back on Fridayv14th and told I had uterine cancer. I had a CT yesterday and am booked for MRI on Tuesday. I have a full hysterectomy booked for Monday 2nd March. All moving too fast. I can't sleep and just need a minute to process everything. Waiting for answers is torture . I feel so alone.

  • Oh dear. I’m sending you huge cyber hugs, Princess69. It IS moving so fast. When last year I had tests upon tests within days, I felt as you must be feeling now, like I was caught up in a whirlwind. Felt I needed space to just process what was happening. Hence when in December I got a call asking me to go in the following day to see my consultant I refused it, insisting I needed a week’s notice so I could make arrangements at work. Well, I can tell you the week I waited to see the consultant was sooooooo torturous!!!! I got so much in my own head that I was a mess by the time the appointment day came. . . Of course I don’t have any answers for you, Princess69, I only say this to say I don’t think anything can make this easier. Only thing I now tell myself is the NHS provides one of the best health systems in the world, Hope your local trust is a good one. You will be well looked after. Have they told you I’d you will be needing chemotherapy or any other follow on treatment? I pray the hysterectomy will be sufficient treatment for you. Sending hugs and positive thoughts your way . . .

  • Thank you for your reply. I'm still waiting on results from CT and MRI to see if any further treatments will be required.  I just need some time . X

  • Ok. I’ll keep you in prayers the MRI and CT so not raise any other issues. I feel your anxiety. Is there a chance of you asking for a week to just take in what is happening before the treatment commences? As I said, I did that last year when I felt I was being dragged into a vortex and for me it only gave me more time to worry and I was a complete mess by the end of the week. But then really I have had more time to process this than you, as my process started in November last year.

I have an appointment with my consultant on Tuesday to find out the result of my biopsy. Given how much I’m bleeding and the pain, I’ve been praying I’ll have a date fixed for my hysterectomy when I see her. Never even thought more tests might be necessary .

Please let us know how you are keeping up and don’t hesitate to sound off....

  • Good luck with your results. I pray that things will go well for you xx

  • Hi,

ive been bleeding since December. After sex I bleed like I’d been cut open. It has hurt during intercourse for a while.

i have had two scans and was told that my endometrium womb lining was thick when they re scanned it was thicker. 23mm and I’m on my period so I’ve been referred for a camera in my uterus. On the scan they found no lumps. They have said it could be polyps but I’m really worried. I’m 32 never had children but I’m very worried. I have polysytic ovaries. I’ve had lower back pain and lower tummy pain.

    What were your symptoms?

    Thank you

    love to all and hope
