Hi, I had an MRI 2 weeks ago tomorrow and was given the all clear. However neurologists have reviewed the scan and found a lesion at the base of my tongue, now waiting for urgent ENT referral. Finding it hard to speak to anyone about it.

Hi Dover.
It's a very scary situation, and it's only natural to be anxious (although anxious is probably an understatement)
I went for an urgent ENT referral about 12 months ago, due to a persistent sore throat. I've compared my experiences with others, and what happened to me seems reasonably typical. After taking a medical history, the consultant put an endoscope up my nose and used it to look down my throat and tickle my larynx while I counted out loud, then I went for an MRI, then a "panendoscopy with biopsies" under general anaesthetic. It all came back clear, but there's no doubt that the waiting for results was horrible.
It's worth remembering that "lesion" has many meanings, and cancer is by no means an inevitable conclusion.
