Husband diagnosed with stage 3 inoperable lung cancer end of November. He’s finished chemo and radiotherapy. Was due to have CT scan mid feb and then see consultant end feb to hopefully start immunotherapy. Had blood test last week and then got call Thursday for him to have scan Monday and see consultant Thursday. I’m now in panic mode. Can the blood test have shown anything worse?

  • Hello Chels1964; welcome to the forum.  This is obviously worrying for you but of course you don't know the reason behind the change of appointments.  It may be that they have had a change of plan which might help your husband and they want to get it started if possible but again I don't know either.  I am just saying it may be for some reason you may not have considered.   I realise you will worry until you see the consultant but try not to panic yet - easier said than done I realise. It's a very hard road.  Annie

  • Thanks for your reply, it’s the sensible answer and I know you are right, but........

I’ve just been flitting though other posts, seems the waiting for results/appointments is part and parcel of any cancer treatment. It’s a nightmare. Hubby seems quite calm. I on the other hand am not sleeping without tablets and am just getting through my working day. Fingers crossed for us and everyone else waiting!!

  • Do let us know the outcome - but only if you want to of course!  Yes, the waiting for results is awful for everyone and no matter how long or short the wait it is taken to mean something  negative!  Annie

  • Hi

thought I’d put an update. Saw consultant yesterday and everything good. Tumours have all shrunk and hubby will hopefully starts immunotherapy in two weeks. Consultant apologised for the misunderstanding about dates of meetings when I told him I hadn’t slept for a week.

  • That is such good news!  You must be feeling a lot better now.  And thank you so much for coming here to post this good piece of information.  At least the consultant apologised!  Enjoy your relief.  Annie
