DCIS questions

Hi-I have just been told I have pre-cancerous DCIS. All medical staff have told me this is a positive thing. It's still a major blow-I went to the doctor with breast pain and this was picked up through a mammogram-on the other breast! I appreciate that I am lucky and my surgery will be a preventative measure, but it's still tough. I meet with the plastic surgeon in 2 weeks but just wondered if there was anyone out there in the same pre-cancerous situation! Thank you

  • Thar's great news Oaktree.

  • Great news Oaktree. Glad it's all over for you and you're feeling good.

    Do you need radiotherapy?

    Yes, I will get radiotherapy

  • That’s good that it’s over. Have a good rest and let others do all the hard work.

  • Hi Oaktree

Start using a good moisturising cream to prepare your skin for the radiotherapy as soon as your wound has healed.. My doctor prescribed Isomol gel and I still use it now.

I had little reaction to the radiotherapy after using it.

Moisturise, moisturise and moisturise is the order of the day now!!

  • Thanks Scottie-will do!

    How are you doing?

    Hi Radley,

Sorry that I didn't get back to wish you well for your mastectomy. My father-in-law died in the early hours of 23rd. He was admitted to hospital for an assessment on the Wednesday, diagnosed with extensive cancer that afternoon, had a visit from the oncologist on the Thursday, who told us that we were looking at weeks at most.

Sadly, we got him into the hospice after 5 days and he died that night. It all happened so quickly that we are all still reeling with shock. We lost my mother-in-law exactly 4 months to the day previously.

On top of that I have just been diagnosed on Monday with my third cancer. This time a melanoma on my face. I should see the plastic surgeons soon, as I will need a skin graft after surgery because the lesion is close to my eye and my nasal passage - Lucky white heather!

How did your surgery go and, how are you feeling now? I hope that it all went well for you.

    Kind regards,

    jolamine xx.

    Hi Oaktree,

I am just wondering how your lumpectomy went and, how you are feeling now that you are at home.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

Very sorry to know about the sad news of your father-in-law.May his soul rest in peace!! At least he has been relieved of his sufferings. My condolence to you and all your family.

Felt sad about your new diagnosis-was it confirmed by a biopsy-when are you going to have the surgery? Hope and pray all goes well for you.

Inspite of these bad news at your end-you still had time to think of me and my surgery-God Unbelievable!Hats off to you dear!

My surgery last week went off well and I came home the next morning.Wasnt as painful as the lumpectomy I had. Went to the hospital yesterday and had the drain out.was told the wound is healing ok.Just have to wait for the histology result and the follow up appointment.

I was so scared how I will feel after the surgery emotionally and psychologically that I did post something on those lines on this chat- but don’t know where it was posted.

Anyways I am feeling much better than I thought I would be- but just worried about the result for now.

Look after yourself and take care.

    Keep me posted.

    Regards

    Radley
