Tonsil cancer?

My hubby had an enlarged right tonsil. He went to gp on 4th December and was fast tracked to ENT.  Went to ENT on the 11th December where the doctor didn't know what it was.  He was told he needed tonsillectomy which took place on the 27th December.  Hubby making a good recovery.  He now has to have a ct scan on the 6th January.  Google is all doom and gloom (I know I shouldn't look at it). Anybody on here had any good news when they got their results?  Thank you for reading.

  • Just to update, scan went well today.  He had to drink some horrible liquid before scan and was injected with some dye.

Radiologist said consultant will have images for results tomorrow.

This time in 24 hours we should know what is what. Couldn't sleep last night, it will be even worse tonight.

Will update when we know more xx

  • Good luck and best wishes for tomorrow.

Hope all ok and good news.

  • Hi Lizzie

Glad the scan went ok today and you’ll have the results promptly as the waiting is excruciating. Whatever the results - fingers crossed for a good result- you will get through it and if its not good news then this helpful group are here to offer support and answer any questions you might have. I found I didnt take anything in and there were loads of questions I wanted to ask but couldn’t remember when I got there. Have a pen and paper to hand and write down anything important you want to ask.

wishing you loads of luck and when you feel able pop back and let us know how you got on.

    Fingers crossed for you both

  • David has been diagnosed with stage one lymphoma.  The consultant didn't have the radiologists report but he had images on computer and he couldn't see anything that shouldn't be there so doesn't look like it has spread.

David has now be referred to hematology (blood consultant) for a treatment plan. This should be in the next 7-10 days.

We are both very positive and the outlook is good.

I feel like a weight has been lifted now.

Thank you for all your kind messages xx

  • Hi Lizzie

Like you say - once you know its like a weight is lifted and you can get on with processing what you’ve been told and regrouping ready for the plan.

Keep talking to each other and take all the support thats iffered.

Wishing you loads of luck and pop back and let us know how you get on with the Consultant.

    best wishes

  • Thank you.

    We are very positive.

We've told the children which was difficult.

We can now face this as a family and become stronger.

    Thank you again.
