Post brain tumour removal - Histology result confirm Grade 3

Hello Everyone.

My first post in this forum!

I was first diagnosed with a Brain lesion in  October and later had it removed through craniotomy in early December. The surgeons confirmed that they were able to remove the tumour completely.

I am making good recovery after the surgery but just when I thought I'm out of danger,  I got my biopsy reports in 3rd week of December that confirmed I have a WHO grade III Glioma. So the oncologist have told me I will go through 6 weeks of Radiotherapy and post that a round of Chemo if required. The reason is there are cells around the tumour location that are malignant and if left untreated they can form another tumour soon. I'm waiting patiently for the next set of treatments.

I'm 35 years old male, not quite keen to read lot of stuff on the internet.  But going to be active on this forum to share information or experiences which I think makes us all feel better.

Good to luck to everyone out there and let's stay confident.

Cheers

Hi and welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry for the reason you're here.

It sounds as if you have had a lot going on since October, but I'm glad to hear that you are now making a good recovery. Your pathology results don't sound ideal, but I'm glad to hear that you are up for the fight. We are all behind you with this.

Have you any idea when your radiotherapy will begin? I imagine that they are waiting for you to fully recover from your surgery before it starts?

It is a good idea to avoid Dr Google on the internet, as many of the articles are either out of date or poorly researched. If you must do some research, make sure that it is from a bona fide site.

I am glad to hear that you intend to be active on this site. Being able to share experiences and information has certainly made many of us feel better and I'm sure that it will help you too.

Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

I hope that your radiotherapy starts soon and is successful.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hi Jolamine

Thanks for your response. Much appreciated.

The consultanats told me I need a minimum of 4 weeks after surgery so that the brain heals well for the Radiotherapy sessions.

As of now tentatively the Radiotherapy will start by end of January or early February and will go for 6 weeks.

You are right about the Google search, I found too many out of date articles and misleading information which are hard to sift through when we are struggling to focus and memory issues etc.

I am staying more than confident about my treatments just need some luck to go my way.

    Thanks

    Regards
