Hi Maggie,
Welcome to our forum.
I am so sorry to hear that you have to wait so long. As you said, these times are totally unprecedented. We all find this waiting time the worst, even when it is limited to a two week time frame. All you can do to distract yourself from the wait, is to keep yourself as busy as you can. Normally, I would advise you to meet up with friends, go to the theatre or cinems, etc, but sadly, none of these options are available at the moment.
Do you have any hobbies that you could get into? One of my friends has organised a family quiz night once a week, via video link. Whatever you do, don't consult 'Dr Google', as this will only terrify you for no good purpose. Much of the information there is incorrect, poorly researched, out of date and aimed at the most spectacular cases.
Do please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi x I had biopsies taken 13th May and was told 12 wk wait....could not believe it!
Long story short, called hospital secretary today and results have just come back but she wouldn't tell me anything....i have to wait for consultant to tell me.. I'm on edge now as in my mind,if things were OK the secretary would have been able to tell me today.
Its so very hard to wait so long.
Really hope your results come back very soon for you x

Hi Tracy,
What type of cancer are they looking for? This certainly does seem a long time to wait for biopsy results. Your consultant's secretary is not allowed to give you any results, whether good or bad. It is usually the consultant who gives you this information.
This is always one of the most worrying stages, when you are waiting for results. The only advice I can give you is to try and keep yourself busy to take your mind off the wait.
I do hope that it is good news when you eventually get them.
Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi x They advised up to 12 wks because of covid...but its taken 5 weeks so not too bad.
Gastric.
Hoping I'll hear from hospital Monday one way or another xx
Yes,its the waiting thats the worse...I'd rather know straight away whether good or bad.
Also had bloods done for Jak2 mutation today....well they tried....no blood would appear! Got to try again on Monday morning
Thank you for your reply and very kind words xxx
Hi Tracy,
Six weeks is a big improvement, although I'm sure that from your point of view, this is more than long enough to wait. I'm sorry to hear that they never got any blood from you today. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and have now got bilteral Lynphoedema. As a result, I can only have blood taken from my feet and this puts anyone who tries to do my bloods to the pin of their collar to get any. Here's hoping that you feel more generous on Monday.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Oh my goodness....i can't imagine how awful it must be to havd to have blood taken from your feet, don't know how I'd cope with that.
Hope you are doing OK during this horrible time....much love to you
I'm sure I will give lots of blood on Monday in fear of having to provide my foot if not!
Tracy xxx
Hi Tracy,
It's never pleasant to have it taken from my foot and, many doctors and nurses refuse to do it. I have to bathe my foot in a basin of warm water for 10 minutes first, to make the veins more obvious. If you'd got to have this done, you would just cope with it because you don't have any option.
I can't say that we're enjoying these extraordinary times, but we're coping. I hope that you're managing ok. I'm sure that you'll manage to give blood on Monday, if for nothing else, to avoid having to have it taken from your foot!
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi x
Couldn't take blood again Monday morning....after alot of poking the nurse managed to get a tiny drop from my hand. She is hoping its enough for the tests. They are testing for leukaemia among other things.
Also waiting for biopsies results ...consultant needs to confirm something with pathologist before she can call me. They normally have weekly team meetings but because of covid they can't.
All of this is making me so anxious...i know I shouldn't be dwelling on it but I need to know whats what so I can get on with things!
Sorry to be so moany
Tracy xx
Hi Tracy,
I'm glad that the nurse eventually managed to get a dribble of blood from you this morning and, I hope that this will be enough for the tests.
The normal protocol for your biopsy results is that your consultant would discuss this at his weekly MDT (Multidisciplinary team) meeting. She would then know what surgery and treatment the team thinks would be best for you. I can only presume that this is possibly being done by video conference at present, hence the delay in discussing this with the pathologist.
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and know just how scary this waiting time is. I was fortunate (Although it didn't feel like it at the time), in that there was no pandemic to contend with, so I only had a week to wait for my biopsy results, but it still felt like a lifetime! You are bound to be anxious and you are not moany. Most of us feel like you do at first. You will find it much easier to cope with once you know exactly what you are dealing with.
I am hoping and praying that your biopsy results bring some good news and, that you get them soon.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hi Johor,
I'm about to have a biopsy and the waiting anxiety is setting in - at the moment I am waiting to be given a date in the first place for going into hospital for a biopsy under full anaesthetic...
I guess there are many of us in this situation - I guess we need to wait well....
