    Hi Gav,

It depends upon what type of cancer you have as to how soon you will get your biopsy results. There can be quite a variation in time frames.

I shall be thinking of you on Wednesday and, hope that it all goes well.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi LeeLee

It is some time since I had my original biopsy but in 2018 I think it was about 2 weeks for an ultrascan.  Then another 2 possibly for a biopsy based on the scan result. I was initially investigated for breast cancer (GP thought this was the fastest route to get prompt treatment) but it proved to be melanoma so I don't know if that would affect the time gap.  Since treatment I have had no need to have further biopsies for that cancer but have had to have bone marrow biopsies.  These results came in very quickly in under 2 weeks, showing MDS.  I was very impressed by that especially as the risk factor may be low and am now under a watching brief.

Once I was in the system I find that getting results back was only a phone call away to my cancer nurse. I must thank Sophie for all the support she has given me.

  • I had biopsies taken 3 days ago if you had to wait 4 week surely if it was urgent you would know before

  • I was diagnosed with a very aggressive grade 3 cancer and I had to wait four weeks for the biopsy results.
Fortunately I was then transferred to a more competent NHS trust for treatment. I saw the consultant the first working day after she got my results, had my surgery a week later.
Unfortunately, I think where you live has a lot to do with how quickly you get results and treatment.

    Hi Gav,

How did you get on  on Wednesday?

I hope that all went well.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Chrisbell,

Were you given a return appointment for your results, or told when they would be back?  A lot depends upon what type of cancer you have as to how long it takes to get the biopsy results back. In most cases of breast cancer, they are back within 1-2 weeks.

I hope that you get good results. Please let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Can't talk anesthetic worn off in pain it's really sore didn't like how trainees did it under supervision  thanks for replying  been told get results in 2 week awaiting appointment date ouch ......

  •

    Oh Gav,

I'm so sorry that you drew the short stick and got a trainee to carry out your biopsy. Did they give you any pain killers for when the pain wore off? If not, it might be a good idea to see your GP tomorrow to get something to help before the weekend. Explain to the receptionist the procedure you've had done and tell her that you need something to tide you over the weekend. They usually keep a few emergency appointments free if you phone at 8.30am.

I know that it will be an anxious 2 week wait for the results and, hope that they don't find anything untoward.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

  • Hi,

I know I'm really late in posting a reply to this. Just wondered how long you had to wait in the end? I am waiting at the moment and due to Covid-19 I have been told I colud be waiting for 8 to 10 maybe even 12 weeks. I know these times are unpressidented, but i just think this is incredibley long. I'm 1 week in and already going mad (or feels like it).
