it’s a constant waiting game isn’t it

thank you for sharing xx
Hi Sunshine,
A warm welcome to our forum.
I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Do you know what type and stage of breast cancer you have and whether you are going to have a mastectomy or a lumpectomy. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer. The first was 8 years ago and I had a lumpectomy followed by Tamoxifen. The following year I had another lump in the same breast and had a double mastectomy followed by Letrozole for 6 years. I just stopped taking this last July. I am due to see a dermatologist for a mole on my back next Monday.
It has been a worrying journey so far, but I am still here and doing fairly well. I am glad to hear that you are staying strong and focused and can still hold on to your humour. You will have good and bad days, but these traits will get you through.
How your son reacts will depend on how you react. You are better to share your journey with him, so that he feels involved. Children can pick up on vibes and they also have big ears. You don't want him to feel left out. You don't have to give him chapter and verse - just make it appropriate to his age.
I have lost both of my parents, several family members and close friends to cancer and now it's my turn. My mum died 20 years ago. Things have come a long way in the interim thanks to our friends at Cancer Research.
The treatment and aftercare that I have received bear no comparison whatsoever to what my mum received. Cancer treatment has advanced to a stage where people can now live with cancer, whereas in the past most died with it.
I sincerely hope that all goes well for you tomorrow.
Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
That’s great news how long has your journey been?
hope you are in good health now xx
Oh wow what a journey n fight you have had with cancer positive to hear you are now well
hope you have good support
have you accessed any group support?
so hope you get the results back soon with regards to the mole
i had a lumpectomy n lymph nodes removed yesterday
meeting up with my consultant on the 30th April to discuss the op n next steps
my fsh levels are double what they should be so I’m having investigations into that via gynae also
least I’ll be well checked
xx
Hi Sunshine,
I am glad to read that you have had your lumpectomy and lymph nodes removed. I hope that your pathology results on 30th April are favourable.
I have attended several different support groups. I started at Maggies, then to the Haven. I then attended a pain management course, a mindfulness course, a moving forward course, a strength and balance course, a self-help lymphoedema course, and a bra fitting evening. All of these have been very useful and have helped me to take control of my cancer journey.
I also hope that you can get to the bottom of the cause of your raised fsh levels.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
I hope all went well for you Thursday. At least you are a stage further in recovery, which has to be some consolation for the fact that you probably still hurt and feel lousy! Can't answer your question as I haven't yet even decided on surgery type but thought I'd just say hello!
