I’m a newbie to the forum. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in August last year. Initially I had my surgery cancelled as the anaesthetist said my heart wasn’t strong enough to withstand surgery, but my cardiologist said I was well enough so I eventually had the surgery five weeks later. I have just finished my chemo yesterday and will be having a CT scan next month. I was lucky with my chemo as I wasn’t really ill with it, although I have neuropathy in my hands and feet, I get pain in my legs for a few days, and lost my sense of taste, although sometimes it comes back briefly, which makes me hope I’ll get it back.
‘My hair fell out two weeks after my first chemo, and after two or three weeks I stopped wearing the wig. I was a bit embarrassed at first but now everyone’s used to it and doesn’t comment. I don’t have to shave my legs or under my arms, and I definitely don’t need a Brazilian wax (not that I ever had one before).
