Tams Terminal

Just wrote this for my profile . . . cut and paste!!!!!!

Lung cancer diagnosed in September 2014: treated with op to remove left upper node and course of chemo (just in case)
Year later brain mets and told I was terminal with average prognosis of 6-9 months; treated with gamma knife surgery which was repeated a year later (October 2016) for a new tumour.
Still here and living reasonably without any medical intervention. Only real issues are related to the cancer treatment which has left me with peripheral neuropathy which will never get better.
I have been banned from Macmillan community forum for making statements about sugar feeding cancer: this was seen as 'negative' and 'unsupportive' of those people who enjoy cake. I'm banned but my comments are still there?
I'm hoping to find more empathy and support for my views on this forum??????

  • Companies aren't altruistic. They exist to make money for their shareholders. In doing so, they'll likely do things that to some, are immoral.

If you had an idea that you could patent, would you patent it or just give it freely to others. Because if you gave it away, other people would still make money off it. Human nature and all that.

  • Oooo I would give ideas freely, but expecting exactly the reaction that you say. I tried to message you privately on here but it came up with a fault message each time I requested. Never mind. It has been an interesting chat.

    Enjoy your tea :)

  • Ah, I don't do private messaging. For some reason it seems somehow disloyal to my wife and family. I'm open and willing to talk about anything on the open forum, though.

  • No probs Taff :) Please make yourselves a cuppa tea from me with all my best wishes and placebo stirred in .... actually not a joke- I really do believe in the placebo effect (and there's really scientific proof)... might help explain why I'm still here now, ha ha (that and pure bloody mindedness, and the gentle help of my own longsuffering and kind partner) :)

  • Hi mare, just googled you and and thus came upon your website. Haven't read your blog yet but I'll get round to it over the next day or so.

My immediate thoughts are that you've done what you thought is right for you and have achieved a 'quality of life'. All good.

I think the claim that stress is the biggest cause of cancer is factually incorrect.

The only problem that I can see is that some people might feel that if they don't do all that, or indeed any form of alternative/complimentary stuff that's advocated across the net, they're failing in some way, somehow not fighting hard enough.

I can also see however that it could be helpful for some people.

But me? I'm never going to be a juicer, a drinker of any sort of smoothie. I'm never going to eat a raw vegetable. I rarely eat any sort of vegetable, and then only small amounts. I never have and never will eat a salad. I don't eat fruit. I'm never going to eat any sort of seeds. Won't be having any olive oil.

And I still ent ded as well.

  • Tea? Tea's an emergency drink for when we run out of coffee. I agree with you about placebos - very powerful. And they can work even when a person knows they're taking a placebo.

  • I'm pleased to hear you're ok Taff.

Although there is research and evidence which appear to support the idea that some lifestyle changes and regular exercise can help some people, I refrain from suggesting anything to you because you are content - and that's brilliant :)

However, I shall continue to keep to my lifestyle changes which I believe help me to keep fit and healthy (bearing in mind my Stage 4 invasive cancer throughout both lungs and liver), and I wish you all the very best with yours.

Thank you for looking at my stuff.
