I have an "incurable but treatable" cancer of the bone marrow.called Multiple Myeloma (MM). I was diagnosed in 2007, and was a total basket case - I had a totally collapsed vertebra, wore a brace from collarbone to pelvis and needed 24/7nursing care. I went through all the conventional medical protocols radiation, chemo, bone marrow transplant. But alongside that, I worked on taking responsibility for my cells and creating the best healing my body could create. And I did. My orthopedist even said that my x-rays and function level don't match - just what I aimed for! Did I mention that I love to dance?.
Then in 2014, I had a lumpectomy for breast cancer... and radiotherapy and am doing fine. Again I worked proactively and had really minor side effects. Then, after 10 years without treatment,(which is great for MM) I had a relapse last April and after chemo and biotherapy, steroids and opiates for the pain, I reached remission again... all the while I kept dancing with my weekly Biodanza group - which is a worldwide dance practice that fosters empowerment and joy.
