    Hi Ness,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. What ages are your children? This must be a worrying time for you. It seems so unfair that you should be hit by this at only 28. I am afraid that I do not have first-hand experience of this type of cancer. I have had 3 bouts of breast cancer.

Can I suggest that you use the search engine on the blue banner at the top of this page? If you enter your key words, this will bring up previous posts on the subject, which you should find helpful. Do you have a treatment plan in place yet, or do you still need further tests?

Please keep in touch ad let us know how you get on. We are always here for you whenever you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Low Grade Endometrial Sarcoma Dear Ness I was diagnosed with this cancer in April 1997 at Colchester General Hospital in Essex and was referred 6 months later to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. While at Colchester I had a radical hysterectomy but not offered radiotherapy My treatment after that consisted of 19 years on progesterone tablets and monitoring with ultra sound for a few years then mainly chest X-rays. I was told at the time it was rare and incurable with not a lot of data. Don't give up hope, incurable doesn't mean not treatable. Maggie
  • Hi Ness,

I was diagnosed with low grade Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma in November 2002. I ended up with a stoma bag for a year, when it was then reversed.

I was 44 years old at the time, I'm now 67 and going strong.

I was treated with 4 Megestrol tablets daily for 20 years. No chemo or radiotherapy, as I was told it would not respond to such treatment. I had annual checks with my Oncologist who told me 2 years ago that he didn't feel it necessary to continue with the tablets or checks. So far all is great and hopefully that will continue.

I had had a total hysterectomy 2 years previously to it being found, but unfortunately the cancer makeup had leaked into my pelvic region and grew, attaching itself to my bowel. Having ESS was rare at the time, but growing after a hysterectomy was even rarer.

I hope this helps a little. I know it won't stop you from worrying, but just shows there can be light at the end of the tunnel.

    Take care

    Linda
