Hello from the US

Hello everyone -- I hope it's OK to have another Yank in the group. :) Thank you for adding me; I hope to glean some ideas, encouragement (I'd like to give it as well as receive), and observe how things are done across the Atlantic, especially with regard to treatment of non-small cell lung cancer, stage four, which my wonderful husband was diagnosed with back on 1 June.

  • Hi Linda,

Welcome to our club and hello from England. I am an ex prostate cancer patient who has made a good recovery. Having had and recovered from cancer, I have to say it has changed me in lots of ways and I feel for the better. I appreciate the simple little thing in life so much more than before cancer and am more understanding these days. I can honestly say to you I am enjoying life even more these days.

I had great service from our great NHS  and the staff were fantastic and so careing

I wish you and your husband very success in fighting cancer and am sending kind thoughts your way, Brian

I wish you and your husband

  • Thank you, Brian, for the welcome and the encouraging words. Congratulations as well on your triumph over this hideous disease. Wonderful! I agree -- concentrating on what's truly important in life is our first priority now. Celebrate the small victories.

  • Hi Jaxrabbit

Welcome. I am a bit of an expert in non small cell lung cancer as l am sorry to say l lost my mum to it on 10th Aug 2017. As soon as l new she had it just over a year ago maybe a year and a half l read up on it. My mum never smoked for over 55 years yet still got it. So if you have any questions please ask.

  • Oh no, not ANOTHER Yank!   Only joking, Linda, and I'd like to join the others in welcoming you to this great forum.  So sorry to hear about your hubby - may I suggest that you open a new thread incorporating his type of cancer in the title, then I'm sure there will be others on here with the same diagnosis who will come along to share their stories.  I have had breast and ovarian over the years, so can't help I'm afraid, but I send you both my very best wishes from 'across the pond'.

    God bless, Hazel xx
