Newbie

Just to say hello to everyone. Just recently diagnosed for 2nd time and feeling pretty much all at sea as they say. 1st time was bad enough but again really takes the biscuit. Must have been a naughty boy in a past life. Silverfox101

  • Hello SF, welcome to the forum.  Sorry to hear your news, I know how devastating it can be.  If you were a naughty boy in a past life I dread to think what I was, I've had it three times!

Let us know a few more details about your diagnosis if you can, then others in a similar situation will soon respond, I'm sure. Meanwhile, wishing you all the best with your new battle, you did it once, you can do it again!

PS - ooh, 'Silverfox', love it, reminds me of my late husband.

  • Thanks for your reply. 1st episode was squamous cell carcinoma which originated in my tonsils which had grown back after being removed when I was 5. Then 49. Had them removed again plus chemo and radio and a neck dissection. Took a good few years to get over that. With 2 episodes of sepsis and meningitis. Was a rough time. Now cancer in my tongue so waiting for surgery to remove a section of that and reconstruction at the same time. I would like to hear from others how they got on with this type if surgery particularly post op. It would help to know what to expect .

  • Hi SF, gosh you've had a bad time, I'm so sorry.  I can think of two chaps who may be able to help, one is 'Vatch', the other is 'Davek'.  If you go to the search section and type in their name their details will come up.  Also, it might help others to find you if you change your heading to something like 'Throat/tongue cancer'.

Hope that helps, and again sending my very best wishes.
