My husband has throat cancer

Hi everyone, we have just found out my husband has throat cancer. He was really poorly at christmas and could not shake off the bug that was going about. He noticed white lumps in his mouth and thought it was part of the virus. After 2 lots of antibiotics the white lumps were still there. Both the docor and the dentist said they thought it was cancer. A biopsy was done and recently an MRI and scan of his neck and abdomen. We are both sitting here trying to stay positive but it's hard. I just want to know the results and I am scared they are going to tell us the worst. Sharon

welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear the news about your husband

the testing part of this process is one of the worst things .... its the not knowing, coupled with the absolute desire to want to know, to then be able to figure out what you are dealing with

a lot of us on this site have been there

first and foremost though, I am now 2.5 years post treatment for throat cancer and there are many of us on here, each of us have our own tale to tell.

my advice for now is to stay off of the internet, everything you need to know can be sourced from the moderators and people like myself, so ask what you want when you want, no question is to minor or silly to answer

coupled with this distraction is the only way to escape what you are both going through for now, go for a walk (great weather today), go see a happy play or something of that ilk....but try and make yourself do something....it does help however tiring it may appear to do it

keep us up to date with things and let us know when your next appointment is

throat cancer is rare so it could be a one of a multitude of things that lead you away from this site

    shout if you need to

i constantly do, because I can and it's a wonderful thing to do so

    vatch

  • Hi Sharon

so sorry to hear your husband and you are going tbrough this. My husband was diagnosed with tonsil cancer which had spread to the lymph nides in his neck in December 2015. This part - the waiting to find out what happens next is the worst - once you know and have a plan its easier to cope with.Your in the right place for support and definitely feel free to ask any questions as theres many people here who are and have gone through what your facing.

    best wishes
