  • Hi Pinkypie Sorry to hear you don't get out much but at least you have us! Not a club to join by choice but it's a great place to talk to fellow members who truly understand. There's always someone to talk to, some in a better position than others. I consider myself to be very lucky at the moment and I hope my stories make people smile, no matter what they are doing their best to cope with. Keep talking, you are not alone :)
  • Hi David

Uodate on my David! 5 weeks post op and he has been discharged by the surgeon, operation was complicated but he has made a remarkable recovery according to surgeon. Still gets tired easily but is more or less pain free and walks over a mile each day

Next stage is oncology who are doing 4  scans and we will get the results on 4th Jan. Depending on those is whether they start treatment now or watch and wait. So far only one secondary in hip do scans are to ensure nothing hiding. They have. Even very reassuring so we have to try and stay positive

hope you are still doing well

    Regards Lynn

  • Hi Lynn,

Great to hear from you.  Your David's recovery sounds very much like mine. He is doing really well.

The most important things now, are the regular scans and reviews. Hopefully, David will be put on "watch and wait" which is a treatment in itself.  At the same time he should get regular scans and monitoring. At this stage, and from what you have said, I would be be very optimistic and positive.  Base your future on what you know now, and not on what might be. Enjoy life to the full.

I am doing really well. Just coming to the end of a cycle of chemo and coping pretty well. This is self administered at home. More scans and results later this month. Living life to the full. Do get tired though, and the chemo does have nasty side effects, but I am managing the side effects much better by being proactive rather than reactive.

Do keep in touch and hope you all have a really great Chrrristmas.

    With all good wishes.

    David

  • I had my kidney remove in June it's tough waiting for the first CT scan

  • Hi Theadore,

How are you since your operation? I am due to have my right kidney removed next week.

  •  Hi i wonder if anyone can share their experiences with kidney cancer operation to remove 1 kidney that has the cancer? My dad is 74, hes had his kidney and tube removed 4 days ago, due to cancer on the kidney, he is now in intensive care, his other kidney is in acute kidney disease, (AKD) due to covid pandemic we cannot visit him. It's so frustrating for me and mum, however dads kidney has not taken over, as the surgeon said it would, as it's not in great condition,  meaning today he was started on dialysis, hes not in a good place, very weak, groggy, in severe pain,  cant eat, has been sick, dizzy, and not coping well as they hoped for, I am very worried, just wondering if anyone has had this, and went through a similar experience? Who can give me some feedback, is this common etc, thank you.
