My cancer

Hi I'm Marty, this seems strange to me because I have not really spoken much about the cancer or what happens now. It started last May when I had pains in my side and needed to find out what it was because I was flying away to work soon. They thought it might be an ulcer so they put a camera down and hey presto they told me I had cancer of the oesophagus ( I think that's how it's spelt). Everything went so quick then numerous different types of scans nearly every week then the chemo quite a heavy session lasting 5 hours and tablets every day. Didn't take to well to the chemo knocked me for six, had 4 sessions of that then 8 weeks of before the surgery. I had a lot of treatment at Clatterbridge hospital, then a 12 hour operation at Sefton hospital both places were fantastic. Have com through the cancer so far they think they have removed it all having to take a third of my stomach away as Well. There is always the thought will it come back.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat Marty

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I'm glad treatment was available and that they think they have removed it all. I just wanted to let you know that there are other members with the same diagnosis on the forum and you can find out a bit more about some of them here. Feel free to post on the discussion as I'm sure they would love to hear from you and help support you on your journey.

    All the best,
