I am now 63 was diagnosed with colon cancer nearly nine years ago at stage 2b and have had surgery and chemo pretty consistently over that time. Everything works for a time but have now had pretty much everything available and have nets in peritenium, ovary, liver  and lungs. Just started a new bout of Folfox to try to stabilise growth so some of the mets can be zapped with zyber knife. After session 1 of Folfox I had very severe reaction with the lining of my mouth and it made is hard to eat or drink. I have also developed a mystery rash. Would like to talk to anyone who is in similar situation or happy to offer my experience over time with others. Good news for those newly diagnosed is that I'm still here after nine years.

  • Your post made me smile - even though it should have made me cry because of what you have been going through.  You are inspirational and have a lovely lightness of being.  I send you my thanks for reminding me of the courage of individuals.  Sian

  • Hi Sian, thank you for your lovely reply  that made me smile too! I feel I want to let everyone newly diagnosed know that I never thought I'd have nine years plus before things got really tricky  it does change your life but the old cliches are true that you really do appreciate every day. Good luck to everyone
