  • Hi raynera1949

    Welcome to Cancer Chat.

Thank you for sharing the method you use to move on from each milestone you pass on your way through breast cancer treatment.

It's very kind of you to pass this idea on to others who might find it helps them too.

Waiting for results can be a stressful time so please come and chat whenever you feel it might help to share your feelings.

    Best wishes,

    Jane

  • Hi there, I was the same as you diagnosed on 18 December 2006 with stage 2 breast cancer, HER2 positive, my daughter was only 6 months old.  Had my chemo, radiotherapy and had a lumpectomy, also lymph nodes removed.  I then went onto Hercepin for a year.  Unfortunately for me 5 years ago, I found out that I had secondary breast cancer in some bones in my back localised, so have been back on Herceptin and Denosomb ever since.  I have a mammogram done before christmas each year which has been clear, and I have a PET scan done annually, just had one done last week and again it shows no new spread and the secondary bone cancer has actually healed with new bone growth!  I feel so happy!  I am now in my 10th year since original diagnosis and feel so good.  You have to remain positive, I definately think that helps.  Have things to look forward to holidays etc, that is how I keep going and also the support of my family and friends and just enjoy life, its too short.  There are new drugs constantly being brought out and for me the drugs I am on are working.  It is always scary at first when you have the initial diagnosis but looking back I never thought I would be where I am today, in a good, positive way enjoying life.  I wish you all the luck and know that you will come through the other end like I have.

  • Hi there Cheryl Thank you for your kind reply I am glad you are doing ok now I have my pathology results on Thursday this week I am not sure they can prescribe herceptin because of my heart disease I had a by pass and have three stents no heart attack luckily. My lump removal was underneath my breast near the sternum and the wound keeps bleeding which is a pain because I do not want an infection they did not stitch it it was joined by glue which is a relatively new thing I believe.

The lymph node op has healed really well with the glue but will get the lump wound checked out on Thursday. I am trying to,stay positive and reading other people's stories does help to overcome fears look forward to knowing my next stage of the journey and then hopefully move on thank you once again
