I was born in Sundererland. County Durhum on 5th Dec 1938.

Migrateded to Australia as a batchelor in Feb 1968.

I married in Perth in 1968 and have had a jolly good life in Australia. As a sea going Engineer

First can I just wish you a happy 77th birthday!  Hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy it, though you do sound rather tired.  Please just pop in and out of the thread when you feel up to it, don't worry about any mistakes, and let us know something about yourself and your illness.  There will usually be someone who will be happy to reply and advise in some way if they can.

Yes, my beloved father passed away from secondary bile duct cancer nearly four years ago (they never found out the primary site) and I miss him terribly. I was diagnosed with breast cancer Thursday week ago and I am awaiting to have a mastectomy at the beginning of January - it was a shock but they appear to have caught 'it' early!

Hi Dunanat ......  Wow my love - you certainly know all about this disease then bless you.  I am sorry to hear about your lovely Dad - you must really miss him particularly now as you face your own diagnosis.  I am really glad that they have caught things early on but understand what a shock it is hearing the news that you have cancer.  I hope you have lots of friends/family who will support you through. I bet you just want to get on with it all now, and January seems an age away!

Aw, thank you for your reply. I have now been given a pre-assessment date in early January and hopefully surgery will take place within two weeks of that date. Yes, it does seem a long way off but I have no doubt that it will soon come around!

Good news about your appt!!  Yep I am doing good this week - been cooking sausage rolls, cake and quiches today to put in the freezer for Xmas - I am a rubbish cook haha but DO try!!  We are going to visit our son tomorrow for the night which will be good (he lives about 4hrs away).

Got some really nice things to look forward to over the coming week - nothing earthshattering but catching up with friends and a couple of evenings out with my daughter.  All good thanks and I really hope you are doing ok too.
