dlbcl-looking to chat to others aggressive stage 4 non-hod

I also have a blog: www.thefightofourlives.com I'm living and fighting with the above and have come on here to find others to chat to and share stuff with.

I'll keep this short so as not to bore you guys but just wanted to converse with others who have gone through or still under going treatment for the above.

Just urge anyone who would like to converse, to get in touch.

Happy to talk [Happy]

  • So i got biospy aug 4th. Dr took more blood work sent it to hepatalogist waiting for those results. Meanwhile i think im having pain in my spleen undecesive wether go to hospital or not. Sometimes i wake up and think this is all a dream. Dr said my wbc been high for sometime. Thank you so much for replying.

  • Yes I had biopsy and I know how daunting that can be-I had a great support nurse though and that made all the difference to me. In my experience, letting the doctor know each and every thing your feeling is the best way to get any questions answered and any concerns investigated. They are actually very grateful for patients who communicate so well with them as it makes their job so much easier.

I know it feels like an out of body experience and in the darkest times it can feel like what anyone says to you is wrong even though you need people around you. But for me the most important thing is having people around you that don't leave no matter how you may push them away. For me I need people as strong as I'm expected to be and much stronger than this illness inside of me.

I know the wait for results can be agonising I do understand.

No need to thank me it's what I am on here for :)

  • Morning Rachael1, I trust you are well.

I've been kindly pointed in your direction by another member.

I was diagnosed last Friday with DLBCL of an aggressive type. I have a PET scan booked for today & hopefully starting R-CHOP no later than 4th Sept. (fingers crossed!!!!)

It's been a whirlwind 7 weeks, from my 1st trip to the docs about a hearing issue. (didn't know I had a neck lump, although now this is quite larger)  Since then I have had the following:

3x Doc appointments, chest x ray, 2 ENT appointments, fine needle biopsy, neck ultra sound, abdomen ultra sound, surgery on neck for full biopsy & finally an Haematology appointment.

Really can not fault the NHS & how they have dealt with me.  You don't always hear that, so I'm pleased.

I don't know about you, but I found then first couple of weeks the hardest?  I was wrongly consulting Dr Google & my family/friends were saying it'll be something simple.  I just knew otherwise!

Now though, I'm a man with a plan (hopefully) & I'll hopefully stay this positive all the way through.

Sorry for the long post (feel like to back story is as important as the journey I'm now on)  Any advise you may have would be greatly appreciated.

    Regards

  • Hey EngM35 :)

Thank you for the message :)

I am more than happy to discuss & grateful to the member that put you in my direction.

I am sorry for the circumstances that bring you to me though but Im real pleased to read of your positive attitude-its never easy to sustain that when you hear those words you never thought you would. However as you may well know it definately does not hold all the stereo types it comes with. As you may have read im stage 4 with a mass that was so big there was no time for anything but immediate action! Im only a little woman lol and I couldnt believe how big a mass I was housing!

I had a mass in chest that was that happy and settled in its new home that it was checking out the rest of its accomodation upwards and downwards-needless to say we are working on getting it evicted for good!! I have complated R-CHOP i'm starting radiotheraphy next week. My advise regarding R-CHOP? im going to refer you to my blog www.thefightofourlives.wordpress.com maybe that will give you a little insight and I'd be happy to discuss anything that would be of benefit to you.

I totally agree I cannot fault the nhs either they have gone above and beyond for me and I feel very supported by them.

    Keep in touch,

    Rachael xx
