dlbcl-looking to chat to others aggressive stage 4 non-hod

I also have a blog: www.thefightofourlives.com I'm living and fighting with the above and have come on here to find others to chat to and share stuff with.

I'll keep this short so as not to bore you guys but just wanted to converse with others who have gone through or still under going treatment for the above.

Just urge anyone who would like to converse, to get in touch.

Happy to talk [Happy]

Welcome to the forum.  I hope you dont mind me saying but I am not sure what dlbcl is and it may help you if you simplyfied the subject a little.  Hope you get the support you need and are soon chatting to others in a similar situation. x

  • Hey Max56,

No I do not mind: diffuse large b cell lymphoma. I do not mind chatting to anyone about any aspect on here not just my own illness.

    Thank you for responding x

  • Thanks for that Rachael. -  guess others with the same would know. -  just dumb b@@@@rs like me who don't haha!  If you put it in the "search forum" on the purple strip above, you may hopefully see other posters talking about it and you can join the discussion.

How are you doing with treatment, is it on going?  I have been on chemotherapy for about 3.5yrs now  for secondary breast cancer and although I am still here way longer than anticipated, my health is deteriorating this year.

When you are feeling in one of your chatty moods I would love to hear about your family and life so don't hold back, you go girl lol!

Thanks for taking the time to educate me and speak soon x.         max x

  • Lol your not dumb I'd never heard of it before it decided to use my body as a greenhouse! I have it in my chest and it statred the size of a small watermelon! Chemo's done its radio I'll be looking at now.

Am I being dumb when I say I never knew a patient could have chemo for as long as you have been? When you say your health is deteriorating, do you mean coping with the chemo or do you mean the bigger picture?

You should go on my blog: www.thefightofourlives.wordpress.com I'd love to chat to you on there!

Real pleased you wanna chat :)

  • Hello Rachael1,

A big welcome to Cancer Chat! The forum is, as many other members here will tell you, the best place for you to meet others and chat to them. This is what Cancer Chat is for really, as the name itself suggests - a place for you to chat to others who find themselves in a similar situation. So keep on posting here and sharing your experience on our forum. I noticed you have already followed Max's excellent advice and done a successful search to connect with others with DLBCL. I thought I would also mention this post by Vinoth in case it is relevant to you and you want to get in touch. Sleepycat is also another one of our active users with Stage 3 Large B Cell Diffuse Lymphoma and you can have a look at Sleepycat's past threads and About Me here. Feel free to respond to any thread that is relevant to you if you wish.

I also noticed you have written a very good About Me, and I thought perhaps you could edit your post in this thread to include the information you mention in your About Me, as this way it will be more visible to others and they can get to know you better and your story in more detail.

    I hope these suggestions help!

    Best wishes,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator

I too hadnt realised chemo can continue for so long but I guess if it is being tolerated, it keeps the disease in check and then another drug is added to give a 'blast' now and again.  My health has deteriorated because I had further mets this year in my brain, liver and stomach wall.  The brain was treated with targeted radiotherapy (cyberknife), the liver tumours with Nanoknife and the stomach wall hasnt been dicussed yet so I am not sure there is surgery that can deal with that one.  The chemo I guess is also taking its toll after such a long time - but I am monitored regularly (heart/bloods/scans) and all seems okay at the moment apart from intestinal inflammation.

Its a strange old life nowadays - and as you say in your blog, difficult for others not on this journey to understand with regards to your 'normality' being a never-ending trail of hospital appts and good and bad days.

I am glad to see you are doing ok. Take good care and keep chatting if it helps x

  • Well you probably do not need me to tell you that to under go as much as you have for the longevity that you are is bloody brilliant! This disease is like ivy on a wall it latches on and doesn't want to let go in attempts to strip you of your being. But you are showing it an almighty force not to be reckoned with. Your resilience is aspiring!

Certainly puts a lot of things into prospective for some of us!

  • Hi Lucie,

Thank you for writing to me :)

I have attempted to make contact with both the profiles you gave me-not sure if the users are still using their accounts though.

I will update this post with my medical info in brief too in hope this helps.

I find it a little difficult trying to target my audience to do some good but hopefully in time people will notice, read and respond.

My employer is raising funds for lymphoma research in september so if you have any advice/assistance to offer in terms of media coverage etc please do throw some this way ;)

Thank you again for the warm welcome,

    Rachael xx
