If you're talking about the Welsh ban, I'm afraid I agreed with the Welsh Government.

The WHO seems to recommend this ban. CRUK has only said that there is no evidence that these cause harm but in my view there is no evidence that they don't cause harm. I am especially concerned about the effects of vapes which can be refilled by smokers. They could put almost anything in them.

Some (not all) of them really stink and would help to re-normalise smoking and make it appear a grown up thing to do to kids.

Hi  eciguser ....... firstly a huge Well Done for giving up smoking, thats brilliant!  Its a huge feat after smoking for so long and I know only too well tthe struggle to stop the dreaded weed especially when dealing with the stress involved with a cancer journey.  I havent read the CR reports on ecigs, but will search it out.

I have to say that I have never smelt anything from the vapours emitted from an ecig.  I also have to say that I wish those who say that having an ecig may encourage children to think it is grown up to smoke, would also consider their example to youngsters when they sit having their 'grown-up' glass of wine or beer when the kids are around!

I was prompted to post about ecigs by news of the ban in Wales. I did say that we don't know how safe they are but I think the benefits to smokers outweighs whatever risk there may be, ecig tips being obviously safer than tobacco. Reportedly there is concern about attracting non-smokers to ecigs but I doubt that effects of nicotine are attractive. The ecig isn't like a cigarette, they aren't substitutes in that they don't have the taste & smell & satisfaction & they don't look like cigarettes  I don't see that 'vaping' could normalize smoking..

My ecig is a great benefit to me & I want to recommend them to cancer patients who may have been told to stop smoking. That I smoke showed on my last check-up scan & I was told off for smoking. I couldn't stop . I'm very pleased with myself for giving up. Ecigs do work!  I really mean that they are to me a God send.

Our dear nanny state having switched smokers from the dangers of nicotine by recommending alternatives are now wanting to outlaw the safer alternative WTH ?????

Fortunately Cancer Research UK has been joined by others in opposing the ban in Wales, I've asked my MP to support the opposition -  being so pleased with ecigs I feel strongly that their use ought to be encouraged, not banned. I think it's worse than 'nannyism', quite sinister.

I doubt that Wales will ban alcohol. I think drinkers are safe.  And it's unlikely that petrol & diesel fumes from vehicles, sugar, salt . . . will be banned.  So why ecigarettes?
