Bladder Cancer question

My Dad has had bladder cancer and had it removed along with his prostate and some lymph nodes. He now has a storma which is not a problem however his legs are swelling up very fast to the point where he can hardly walk. He has been told it is water in his body due to cancerous lymph nodes. Is there anything he can do to help him walk or bring the swelling down. The doctor said it is chronic.

  • Hi Dolphin61,
Apologies you have waited so long for a response.  This will effectively bump you up to the top of the list again.
A suggestion is to call one of the nurses on 0808 800 4040 during office hours Mon-Fri if you are in the UK for help.
Is the GP not able to help with this?  Does dad have any help from McMillan?
    Thinking of you

  • Hi Dolphin, welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad having had bladder cancer and the problems he's now having with his legs swelling. I have bladder cancer also, and will soon have my bladder taken out, but I have never heard of people having a problem such as what your Dad is going through after bladder removal. Having said that, I don't know a whole lot about this bladder cancer thing anyway, so not here to give advice. Kathy has suggested that you contact the nurses here on the forum and perhaps they can shed some light on this for you. That would be an excellent idea as they are knowledgeable about these things. I'm sure there must be some explanation for this problem and hopefully, a solution.

Good luck with it and your Dad is very fortunate to have you in his life for support. Take care and come back on here to let us know how you get along.
