Introducing myself

Hi My name is Nana  and was diagnosed a year ago with rectal cancer. The tumour was removed , followed by chemo and radiotherapy. I am still recovering from the treatments, and now await another MRI scan, then examination under anaesthetic, then further surgery to have removal of a benign tumour on another part of the bowel. I have remained positive from day one which has helped me on my journey. I am 70 years old .. I keep myself busy making crafts etc..

  • Hello Nana = welcome here - sorry to hear about the cancer. My wife also had that - diagnosed two years ago and had the op and chemo etc just like you. She goes for scans regularly etc. and so far all is well.

Glad you feel positive and find interest in hobbies. We do as well!! Things are not too bad = All we can sayu - is it surely  changes things! Welcome here = there are many people who will walk with you - aas we will - on this journey, always hoping for continuing good news

    Have a lovely day

    Steven xx

its a lovely spring isn't it = with the flowers showing their best dresses and frocks!!

  • Hi Steve and your Mrs....:)

Thank you for your support on my journey....

I am a retired nurse who has been there/ done that-- and yet when it landed on my lap-- it sure changed my world!  I am unsure yet whether all the treatments have worked for me  ---But as you say-- Positivity carries one from week to week . People around me are more freaked out than me! Perhaps my past career has helped me come to terms with it all....I lost a sister to bowel cancer 3 years ago-- then a brother in Dec to lung cancer---and also another younger brother in Nov last year --not due to cancer but renal failure due to type one diabetes :( ... Good news on your wife`s "recovery" from the same diagnosis as myself...and yes, good to keep the brain active!  I am glad I joined this site today-- It is somewhere I can pop in to to chat with people who really understand the journey--

No spring here yet Steve as we had snow shower today :(

But am sure it is just round the corner-- allowing me to get a few things planted in the greemhouse!

Regards to you and your wife.

    Nana  x

  • Good Morning to you all :)

Thank you for your support -- we are all here for the same reason....

There are so many different types of cancer --and it`s only when you pop in here that you find so many people of all ages having being diagnosed with the darned thing somewhere on their body part!

But it`s great to see so many people with so much positivity which I am sure helps during the healing process :)

I would say waiting for appointments is the worst thing about the journey!

We have sunshine this morning following severe hard frost--Just hoping the green house plants are safe!

Hope you all enjoy your day whatever you have planned :) x

  • Hi Alan-- Just popped into this group and noticed your post from March month-- and wondering how you are following the treatment of then...I am back on chemo--yet again! Staying positive I am :)

No gardening for me this past year! :(
