Hello. in November 2014 my husband (aged 67 years) was diagnosed with gastric cancer (T3:N2:M0) following an endoscopy, performed because of long term dyspepsia. As you may be able to see from the staging, CT scans and PET scans showed no metastases. He is currently almost 50% through ECX chemotherapy (3 x 21 day cycles), with a view to repeat CT scan in mid March, when hopefully we will see a reduction in the size of the tumour. The plan is a total gastrectomy, followed by 3 more cycles of chemotherapy. I am hoping to be in touch with people/carers who have maybe had a similar experience to this dreadful life changing event. I believe that the total gastrectomy is still possible even if the tumour has not reduced, though easier for the surgeon if it has - does anyone else have experience of this please. Thank you very much.
