Nasopharyngeal Cancer Survivor.

Hello everyone,

I beat Nasopharangeal Cancer 17 years ago, in fact today is the anniversary of being told I was clear. I know there are only 2 or 3 other sufferers in here so all I want to say is:-

YOU CAN BEAT BIG C TOO!!!

Hope to hear from fellow nasop sufferers soon as I have NEVER met one in 17 years of having been affected by it.

Hear soon

Ron

  • Hi Ron,

    Writing from Australia.

I got diagnosed with NSP cancer in late June, which got metastasised to neck lymph nodes, I tried alternative med from Mexico since then but I ended up in this hospital today with weakness/ weariness and shortness of breath. They want me to talk to radiology oncologist tomorrow morning and discuss about chemo and radiation so keeping me over night. I dreaded chemo and radiation for their likely side effects but it appears this cancer is winning at the moment. When I tried cannabis oil, it worked but it depressed me and its psychoactive component made me quit, since then, my L nodes became bigger and I started to feel weak and hard to breathe. Biopsy showed that I have Squamous cell carcinoma which was likely caused by Ebstein Bar Virus.... I am so afraid of the conventional treatment and they will Kill me if I get them now because of how weak I feel.... You’ve mentioned food mixer, is it food processor or regular blender? Any of your inputs will be greatly appreciated.

I quit smoking 15 years ago to start a family. I have two boys,15 and 8...

  • Hi,

Mine turns out SCC as well. I’ve been avoiding the chemo and radiation and been doing alternative tonic and pills but I needed up in hospital with weakness and shortness of breathing.

Lately my tongue feels a bit weird, swollen and tingling...

sincectge diagnosis I think It’s gone from stage 3 to 4...talking to an oncologist tomorrow to discussion options

did he have any symptom on his tongue?

    many thanks in advance

  • Hello Ron how are you. I read your experience on the board and I thank you for sharing and helping everyone. Would it be possible to ask a few questions of you if you feel up to it. Regards Ian.

  • Hi Ron

I have recently been diagnosed with a nasopharyngeal cancer, and found your post soooo hopeful! I am terrified of the treatment plan - x2 rounds of chemotherappy followed by combination chemo/radiotherapy - 12 weeks in total.

  • Hi Ian

Just seen your post. I was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer last week.

Sounds like you're recently diagnosed too? We may have the same questions to ask ...

    Regards

    Nikki

  • Hi Nikki how are you. It's certainly hard to get answers to a lot of questions I have but thanks so much for sharing. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with unknown primary cancer. I had my tonsils out and had radiotherapy and chemotherapy as well. The just recently I was told I had NPC. I have been trying to get answers for the past few months. I have had PET scan, MRI and CT scans. Still trying to get the right diagnosis. I hope I can get some answers soon. I had a biopsy surgery done and it was inconclusive. I am still trying to get an answer. Regards Ian. Would be great to chat Nikki.

  • Hey Ron how are you feeling brother. Regards Ian.

  • Hi Nikki did you get my post.

  • Hey Ron did you get my post.

  • Hi Ian

I am so sorry to hear you are still trying to get the correct diagnosis. Have you had further symptoms recently as it's 4 years since the unknown primary cancer diagnosis?

We have had similar investigations - MRI, PET-CT and neck lymph node biopsy. Most results in apart from whether or not it's EBV related.

Where do you live? I am in Hampshire
