Hello Elaine,
I'm so very sorry to hear this. What an utterly horrible position to find yourself in. It must indeed be terrifying. Anyone who reads your post will feel the same way, I'm sure.
You'll find a huge amount of personal experience and support on this site. You may easily hear from someone who has faced the shock and fright of similar unexpected news.
Also, the moderators and nurses often reply to posts like yours. Their valued comments not only contain very useful practical suggestions but also wonderful compassion and understanding from the site itself, so to speak.
You're not alone. Really, you're not. We all need help and support. That's why we're here.
With warmest wishes.
Hi Elaine,
A very warm welcome to the forum.
I am so sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis and understand how you feel. After battling breast cancer for 12 years, my mum got a similar diagnosis, when she was told that it had spread to her liver, lungs, bone and brain. That was 28 years ago, when we didn't have the treatments available that we have today. Is treatment still an option for you?
I hope that you have the support of a friend or family member who can help you and openly discuss your fears, as talking things through really does help.
Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. Please remember that we are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
Hello I’m so sorry to hear of this , I have been diagnosed with stage 4 brain tumour. I had it removed last week but chemo and radio is needed but I’ve been told that it will come back
I was diagnosed with cancer in 4 places. There is no treatment available and I have just weeks left. I’m going downhill rapidly and am not ready to leave my family yet
Hi Elaine,
You must be finding this incredibly hard to accept, but don't lose hope. You are fortunate that treatment is still an option and there is no guarantee that the cancer will come back. This will just be based on averages and none of us is average. We are all individuals and there is always someone who will buck the trend - I only hope that you are the one!
Have you had a chance to talk to anyone about how you feel, since you were given this diagnosis? We spoke to a counsellor at our local Maggie's Centre, who was very helpful. It really does help to talk instead of bottling up your feelings.
Do please keep in touch. There are several people here who are travelling the same road and I'm sure that some of them would be happy to share their experiences with you. Just a thought, but you might get more of these replies if you ask one of the moderators to change the title of your posts to "Stage 4 Brain cancer - what can I expect?" or something similar. Some people only glance through the forum and look for cases similar to their own.
I hope that your treatment goes well. Please keep in touch. I am always here any time you want to chat.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
