Lung biopsy

I have recently had two lung biopsy’s on a 22mmx15mm opacity both came back inconclusive, also had pneumothorax and chest drain, 8 days in hospital.  Now going for my third biopsy on Monday to a different hospital.  Petscan also showed up aptake on thyroid and had biopsy on this came back thy3f, this has been over the last eight weeks.  How do I cope with the not knowing and the thought of having to go through another biopsy and possible pneumothorax.  Struggling with my emotions

  • Hi Karej,

I just wanted to wish you the best of luck for your third biopsy tomorrow. I hope that it all goes well for you and that you won't have to wait too long for the results. We have information on our website on the lung biopsy which I hope you will find useful.

It is normal to be struggling with your emotions at the moment and the 'not knowing' is the hardest thing and it can be a time when you might feel a bit in limbo, a time when you might have more questions than answers and when anxiety can be sky high as a result. It might help to have a look at our helpful tips on how to cope while waiting for news which will give you some good coping mechanisms during this time of waiting and uncertainty.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had a lung biopsy and a similar experience before and that they will come and share their story with you and give you personal tips on how they themselves coped at the time.

Keeping everything crossed for you that you feel less in the dark and get some definite answers soon and it turns out to be nothing of concern,
