Saliva gland diagnosis

I have just been diagnosed with Cancer of the salivary gland that has spread to a nearby lymph node.  I am 51 and fit for my age, so this is a huge shock.  I now need more tests to determine the actual cancer, the treatment plan, and long-term hopes.

So many questions, but I will have to wait for more results to answer most of them.  What do you do in the meantime when you feel fit and healthy?  Should i just go about my life as if nothing has changed and just deal with it when i know more?  Don't want to curl up and feel sorry for myself as this would only make it worse for me...but I'm all ears for other people's experience and how they coped.

Also, if anyone has had a similar cancer in their lives i would love to hear from you.

Thank you

J
