Here we go again!! Facing cancer for the 4th time

Hello. Facing this beggar for the 4th time. Previously I've had breast cancer, ureter cancer, bladder cancer. Now after 18 years I have DCC in the lymph nodes near my clavicle.  It's was discovered while I was having my 10 year bladder follow up scan. I have no symptoms whatsoever, so I would maybe never have noticed it til it was well established.

I have my first oncologist appointment on 7th September.  My daughters are adults now ( they were children when I had my original BC), but it still breaks my heart to put them through this for the 4 th time!!

I keep good health, I walk a lot, I watch my diet ( I have a stoma, 2024, which will make medication more difficult) .

I'm trying not to think of stage4 as a death sentence. I know it's not.  Lots of people live with stage 4 diagnosis. I'm almost 70, but I would say I'm a young 70. Too young to be leaving yet. I'd like to make it to 80, but who knows. My youngest has just turned 30. She's autistic and still at home with me.  We're like an old married couple, we get on so well. I'm scared to leave her. My eldest is settled with a lovely partner, she lives not too far away.

Thanks for letting me rant on. I'm thinking too far ahead, whilst trying to stay in the moment. You'd think I'd be good at this by now.

Take care everyone. Have a peaceful Sunday

  • Hello Papigo,

these days some think they can flash their teeth and mince about and that makes them stars and heroes. Those of us that value substance over frivolity know different, and l am certainly responding to a true heroine here.Having come through just one stage 4 ,l can fully appreciate the inner strength and depth of charecter you must possess. Rant away, l think you have truly earned that right, and your post serves as an inspiration to all of those fighting their own battles with this insidious invader.

Your ambition IS to make 80, but why limit yourself to that, l hope that you exceed your expectations and confound all those that know and the spirit you carry within yourself. Best wishes for successful treatment and a future filled with a sunny outlook,

    David

  • Thank you so much, David.  Your words are very much appreciated. I wouldn't call myself a heroine, just yer pretty average woman, building herself up for another scrum with my nemesis. I won't go down without giving it a good clobber .

I wish you good health, and strength in your journey.

This is just another hurdle to get over in the race for life
