Hello! In the last 3 years I’ve had 3 different cancer referrals, the first was for a tumour found in my bladder during an ultrasound, it has returned 3 times, I’ve had 3 TURBT s the first under general as the tumour was very large, the others have been smaller as they have been giving me check ups every 6 months, I had mitomycin after the first TURBT and a 6 week infusion of it into the bladder last August. I have just found out it’s recurred again and am waiting for another TURBT and was wondering if anyone else here has recurring non muscle invasive bladder cancer and what the treatment is if it keeps on recurring.
i also had an abnormal smear test at the end of last year with high grade changes. I had two surgeries on my cervix as on the first one there was no boundaries. I just had my 6 month smear test and it really hurt. The nurse had a hard time finding my cervix (they took a lot of it away) and it was very painful and I am bleeding more than i normally would after a smear and I was wondering if this is normal post surgery? Also, what percentage of people still have hpv on their first smear and what the treatment is from there if they do.
i also was referred this year for possible skin cancer, I’ve had the mole removed now and it was dysplastic, my dad died from melanoma so it is a concern for me and I wondered if any other people here have had dysplastic moles and then melanoma.
Also, is it weird to have abnormal cells growing in different parts of your body? Are there people here who have experience of different kinds of cancers? Im not in high risk groups for these cancers, is there an infection that can cause different cancers? It’s probably an unanswerable why question really, but I’d really like to not have this happening to me, it’s almost embarrassing now to tell anyone because it’s happening so often. I left work because I was so embarrassed by all the time I was having to take off work.
none of this has been life threatening but they’ve felt like they could be whilst waiting for results, and it’s really played on my mental health, especially the recurrence and having to repeat so many procedures. I keep trying to stay well mentally, how do you stay positive? I am really trying. I feel like a fraud too, as right now im not fighting for my life like so many others, but the constant checks and procedures im finding really hard going. The nursing staff are all so nice but im finding it really hard.
